摘要: A medical needle assembly includes a stylet having non-circular cross-sectional shape disposed within the needle lumen. The needle and the stylet each define respective electrodes that enable ascertainment of an electrical property of a body substance adjacent the distal tip of the needle. An electrically insulative coating having a uniform thickness covers the stylet. Wire leads enable connection of the electrodes to a measurement module configured to measure an electrical property of a body substance adjacent a distal end of the needle during insertion. Electrical property measurement enables identification of the location of the needle tip within the patient based on the measurement value. A major diameter of the non-circular cross-sectional shape extends across the needle lumen to create first and second flow paths extending along the lumen on opposite sides of non-circular cross-sectional shape. The first and second flow paths enable blood to flow along the lumen during use.

摘要: Catheter systems and methods for the selective and rapid application of DC voltage to drive irreversible electroporation are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, an apparatus includes a voltage pulse generator and an electrode controller. The voltage pulse generator is configured to produce a pulsed voltage waveform. The electrode controller is configured to be operably coupled to the voltage pulse generator and a medical device including a series of electrodes. The electrode controller includes a selection module and a pulse delivery module. The selection module is configured to select a subset of electrodes from the series of electrodes. The selection module is configured identify at least one electrode as an anode and at least one electrode as a cathode. The pulse delivery module is configured to deliver an output signal associated with the pulsed voltage waveform to the subset of electrodes.

摘要: A manipulable portion of a catheter system advances out of a lumen of a catheter sheath at a distal end of a shaft, which is also within the lumen of the catheter sheath. The catheter system causes different advancement and retraction trajectories of a manipulable portion out of and into the lumen based at least upon different relative movements between the catheter sheath and the shaft. A projection and a corresponding receiver may be used to control relative positioning of the catheter sheath and the shaft, as well as to control positioning of the manipulable portion. The catheter system may control metering rates of a control element coupled to the manipulable portion during advancement and retraction of the manipulable portion. A control element of the catheter system has varying amounts of length outside a distal end of the catheter sheath during advancement and retraction of the manipulable portion.

The one or more attaching members are disposed on the first principal surface side of the substrate to attach the substrate to the housing. The total area of one or more overlap regions in which the one or more attaching members overlap the substrate in the first principal surface of the substrate when viewed in a direction perpendicular to the first principal surface of the substrate is smaller than a sensor area of the sensor surface of the biosensor.

摘要: A method uses internal patient data from an implantable medical device (IMD) and environmental factor information associated with cardiovascular diseases as input to a predictive cardiovascular disease software tool for enabling alerts, e.g., generated by a computing system configured to receive data from the IMD. A computing system may receive diagnostic metric data from the IMID and time correlated location data of the patient, e.g., from a smartphone, smartwatch, or other computing device of the user. The computing system may use the patient's location, such as from a user's device such a programmer or patient's computing device, to determine a particulate matter exposure level corresponding to the diagnostic metric data that may then be used as an input to a predictive cardiovascular disease software tool to refine the risk score or risk stratification.

摘要: A system and method for assessing contact between a medical device and tissue may comprise an electronic control unit (ECU) configured to be coupled to a medical device, the medical device comprising a first electrode and a second electrode. The ECU may be further configured to select the first electrode as an electrical source and the second electrode as an electrical sink, to cause an electrical signal to be driven between the source and sink, to detect respective electric potentials on the first electrode and the second electrode while the electrical signal is driven, and to determine an impedance respective of one of the first electrode and the second electrode according to both of the respective electric potentials.
