摘要: A vehicle for automatically milking dairy farm animals which carries a milk reservoir having milk lines which connect to a set of teat cups that are automatically connected to animals' teats by a milking robot. The vehicle is supported from the underlying surface by wheels, caterpillar tracks, or an air cushion, and includes navigational equipment which controls the vehicle so that it positions itself under the animals' teats whereupon the teat cups automatically placed on the relevant animals' teats one by one or in pairs. The vehicle also has its own propulsion power source. The vehicle including all its components is movable and displaceable as a whole. A gripping mechanism for connecting the vehicle to an animal may be included. In a variation, a central station carries a milk reservoir and a plurality of satellite milking units as described above seek out and milk the dairy farm animals. Such units are coupled to the central station by conduits otherwise to deliver milk they receive from the animals to the reservoir carried by the central station.

摘要: An apparatus for demarcating an area for restricting the freedom of movement of animals that may be in the area for grazing purposes. The demarcation element, as such, may be a cord, band, ribbon, strip, cable, rope or electrified or communication wire which may be two parallel wires separated by a flexible insulating material. The demarcation element is supported by a plurality of vehicles although one or two ends of same may be secured at a reference point. The vehicle is supported by two relatively large wheels which are independently connected to motors and the center of gravity of the vehicle is lower than the centers of the wheels which may be perpendicular to the ground or slanted inwardly. The vehicle carries solar panels which may be mounted on the wheels if they are slanted. A connection for the demarcation element is carried on each vehicle which may include a guide member and a tightening device. Also measuring devices are included for measuring the lengths of the sections of the demarcation element between vehicles and the angles at which they extend relative to a predetermined direction.

摘要: A system for automatically milking animals is provided with a milking robot and a computer which is capable of being connected to a plurality of measuring instruments for a plurality of functions of the system and physiological conditions of the animals being milked. Monitoring programs for the functions and conditions are installed in a computer which, based on comparison reference data, determines that one or more components of the system is likely to fail or otherwise malfunction and reports on abnormal physiological conditions of animals being milked by the system. As a result of the computer determinations, diagnoses of the likelihood of failure or other malfunction of one or more of the system's components, and of abnormal conditions of the animals being milked, are transmitted to interested parties including a user and a service mechanic together with the appropriate actions to be taken.

摘要: In a fully automated milking system, a disinfecting device that disinfects those parts of the milking equipment and of a cleaning device which contact the teats and also usually the udder of an animal to be milked. The disinfecting device comprises an ultraviolet light source wherein the wavelength of the ultraviolet rays are between 100 and 280 nanometers. The light source may be movable within a teat cup or directly connected to the teat cup so that the radiation penetrated the teat cup's liner which is translucent and destroys harmful bacteria on the teat cup parts that contact the teat of an animal being milked as well as contacting portions of the animal's udder.

摘要: A method and apparatus for ascertaining and measuring the quality of milk by analyzing reflected or absorbed colors or both with which the milk is irradiated. The milk is thus irradiated with three colors of light in wavelengths of red, green and blue and the intensity and color of the light reflected by the milk or absorbed thereby, or both, is measured. The light sources are periodically switched off whereby the receiving sensors measure the same red, green and blue wavelengths due to background sources to the extent that they are reflected or absorbed or both by the milk. This data is then compared with data with the light sources switched on to produce the net data which is relevant to the milk as it is being received from the animal being milked. The net measurements provide a basis for ongoing evaluations of the quality of the milk being received from the animal; they are capable of indicating blood, urine, excrement, other contaminants, e-coli bacteria, hormones, rinsing liquid, air, and conditions such as mastitis and colostrum or grass milk which is milk produced after consumption of grass by the animal.

摘要: An apparatus for automatically milking animals wherein teat cups are applied to the animals' teats by an automated robot, each teat cup comprising a shell and liner composed of flexible elastic material wherein the liner has an opening at its top to receive an animal's teat and in its lower aspect discharges milk in pulses to a milk conduit connected to a container for receiving and sharing the milk. Each teat cup includes a sensor for continually measuring instantaneous magnitudes of milk being received from the teat and a pulsator which controls the duration of contractions by the liner. The milking operation comprises a foremilking stage, a main milking stage and a stripping stage, the durations of which, as such, and durations of individual pulsations in each stage are electronically controlled based on data received from the sensor. The durations and levels of milk suction and release during each stage and each individual pulse cycles of each stage are controlled, such control being based on a predetermined reduction in the instantaneous magnitude of the milk flow during each pulse cycle and the milking stage involved.

摘要: A method and apparatus for treating animals that are milked in an automated milking system. For the animals involved or groups of such animals, there is stored a predetermined desired weight pattern for such animals or groups of animals, which weight pattern is based on the animal's actual weight pattern which extends over a relatively long period of time including, at least, each animal's last lactation period, into a computer memory. An animal is weighed in a milking compartment where it is simultaneously milked and fed two to four times in each twenty-four hour period. On the basis of the animal's ongoing weights, having in view its earlier established desired weight values, there is determined average actual weight values taking into account the weight variations due to contents of the animal's digestive tract and udder to provide expected variations around the average value. Thereafter, when the desired weight value stored in the computer memory applicable to the particular time insofar as the animal's life cycle is concerned is different than the actual average weight of the animal, considering variations, the quantity of feed to be distributed to the animal while it is being milked in the milking compartment is adjusted accordingly. If the actual weight of an animal is sufficiently different from the expected weight, the operator of the automated milking process is informed of such fact by signals provided to capture the operator's attention.
