摘要:
A polarization-maintaining optical fiber which exhibits an excellent polarization-maintaining performance and significantly low splice loss when spliced with a polarization-maintaining optical fiber having a cladding 125 μm in diameter even if the polarization-maintaining optical fiber has a small-diameter cladding of about 80 μm. The polarization-maintaining optical fiber includes a core, a pair of stress-applying parts provided radially outwardly with respect to the core, and a cladding which surrounds the core and the stress-applying parts. With a diameter D of the stress-applying parts between 21 μm and 32 μm, a distance R between the stress-applying parts between 6 μm and 17 μm, and a relative refractive index difference Δ between 0.3% to 0.5%, a sufficiently large mode field diameter (MFD) is obtained; thus splice loss can be reduced.

摘要:
An image processing apparatus and method which can be selectively used in a variable mode and a fixed mode. In the variable mode, the quantizing values and thresholds for converting high valued image gradation into low valued image gradation can be changed so as to vary the surface gray levels of a printable image at a fixed laser gradation value. In the fixed mode, constant thresholds and quantizing values are used. The use of selectable operation modes enables easy printing operation with increased quality. Also, constant quality of printable images despite environmental changes may be realized by sensing and comparing currently read reference data with initially stored reference data and subsequently correcting quantizing values and thresholds in accordance with the compared result.

A mobile communications system including a mobile terminal 1 and a base station 2 which relays communications between a network and the mobile terminal 1, in which the base station 2 can deliver information to the mobile terminal 1 by using an MBMS, in which the base station 2 sets a flag indicating presence or absence of emergency information to a control channel used for the MBMS, and notifies the presence or absence of the emergency information to the mobile terminal 1 by using the description of the flag set to the control channel for the MBMS.

It is a Fe—Ni based shadow mask material of Fe—Ni alloy or Fe—Ni—Co alloy used as a material for a color television cathode tube or the like, and relates to a material wherein the material has a texture that an X-ray intensity ratio Ir of cubic orientation (100) to twinning orientation (221) thereof in a (111) pole figure is a range of 0.5-5:1 and segregation of Ni, Mn or the like is less, and a section cleanness defined according to JIS G0555 is made to be not more than 0.05% to reduce the occurrence of streak or mottling in the etching.
