The display module can be mounted on the inspection device. There is a power supply for generating the electric power, a control circuit for generating the various signals, and a second connector having outputs of the power supply and the control circuit. When the display module is mounted on the inspection device, the first and second connectors are connected together, so the power supply and the control circuit can be electrically connected to the display module.

Provided is a display device featuring its capability to securely prevent static electricity from intruding into spare wiring units preset in a display panel and prevent the display device itself from becoming larger dimensionally. A plurality of terminals of signal wirings and a plurality of terminals of spare wiring units respectively linking with a tape carrier package (TCP) are disposed to an end of a TFT substrate for constituting the display panel. Each of the terminals of the spare wiring units is divided into two parts, which are arranged to be discontinuous on the halfway. An open space is formed in each of the tape carrier package so as to cause the spare wiring terminals to be exposed externally via the open space. When any of the signal wirings has been disconnected, the disconnected signal wiring is connected to a spare wiring followed by a process for interconnecting the two portions of the terminal of the corresponding spare wiring, thereby completing a predetermined repairing process against the faulty wire connection.

Around the liquid crystal driver IC, the TCP has signal input lines for inputting signals to the liquid crystal driver IC, first signal-output lines for feeding output signals of the liquid crystal driver IC to the liquid crystal panel, second signal-output lines for feeding the output signals of the liquid crystal driver IC to the adjacent TCP, power supply lines for driving the liquid crystal driver IC, and counter-electrode lines for feeding counter-electrode signals to the liquid crystal panel. The two counter-electrode lines are electrically connected to each other by means of a jumper chip. The wirings of the TCP are connected with the corresponding electrode terminals of the liquid crystal panel in a belt-shaped terminal connection area.

In a display device, first flexible wiring boards each mounted with a drive IC are provided on opposite first and second sides of a display panel. Two second flexible wiring boards each mounted with a drive IC are provided on a third side adjoining the first and second sides of the display panel. Each first flexible wiring board has input terminals and output terminals on opposite sides of a substrate thereof. The output terminals of the first and second flexible wiring boards are connected with the associated electrode terminals of the display panel. The input terminals of the first flexible board on either side and the input terminals of each second flexible board are arrayed in a line and are connected with circuit wirings of a circuit board placed on the first and second sides of the display panel. The circuit wirings are also connected with the electrode terminals of the control board by a connector.
