    摘要: An image forming apparatus and an image forming method are characterized in that charged particle jumping can be controlled by applying signals having a small potential difference, and that low-voltage type switching devices can be used as switching devices for the power source. Control electrodes 16 are provided to move charged particles detached from a development roller 2 and to control the movement amount of the charged particles by generating a transfer electric field directly or indirectly between the development roller 2 and a rear electrode 8. A bias electrostatic field is generated between the development roller 2 and the control electrodes 16 by applying a voltage under a jumping start voltage, which is a voltage having the polarity opposite to the polarity of the charged particles and is lower than the jumping start voltage for detaching the charged particles from the development roller 2.

    摘要: In a color electrophotographic printer, an intermediate transfer belt is provided to layer toner images of a plurality of colors, and the toner images on the belt are transferred onto a paper sheet. In order to remove a paper sheet when a paper jam happens, a door is provided in a case of the printer, while a cover is provided to protect a transfer region where the intermediate transfer belt contacts with a paper sheet for transferring the toner images. When the door is opened, the cover moves to cover a portion of the surface of the intermediate transfer belt exposed to the door. When the jammed paper sheet is removed, the image forming process is resumed immediately on the toner images on the intermediate transfer belt. Further, an intermediate transfer unit including the intermediate transfer belt and the cover detachable from the printer may be provided. In a modified example, a transfer member which is connected to a transfer member is provided instead of the cover, and when the door is opened, the transfer member covers the surface of the intermediate transfer belt.

    摘要: A developing unit for use in image forming apparatus includes a unit housing divided in three chambers, i.e. a toner applying chamber facing a photoreceptor and first and second toner replenishing chambers, by respective partition walls each having an opening as a passage for toner. The first and second chambers have rotation frames, respectively. Each frame has a radially extending arm to the end of which a toner transporting sheet is connected. Each sheet is provided with a friction film. When each frame rotates, the sheet with the friction film is pulled by the frame for its rotation under the toner so as to be deformed in the form of a circular arc. The toner is transported forwardly by the friction force of the friction film. When the amount of toner is reduced in each chamber, each sheet may resiliently restore to its original shape to contact the inner surface of the corresponding chamber so that a small amount of toner on the bottom of each chamber can be carried forwardly.
