    摘要: A thermal printer includes a thermal head having n heating elements arranged at a preset pitch D1 in a line, a memory including a first memory area storing a plurality of high speed printing character data each column of which is composed of n-bit data and a second memory area storing a plurality of high resolution printing character data each column of which is composed of m-bit data (m>n); and printing control circuit which reads out the m-bit data of each column designated by the input character code data from the second memory area in accordance with the high resolution printing mode designation data, and drives the thermal head in accordance with the m-bit data read out. The printing control circuit reads out the n-bit data of each column designated by the input character code data from the first memory area in accordance with the high speed printing mode designation data and converts this n-bit data into the N-bit data (N>n) and drives the thermal head at an average dot pitch D2 (D2 is larger than D1 and differs from the integer multiple of D1) in accordance with the N-bit data.

    摘要: A character pattern forming apparatus has a ROM, a RAM, and a CPU. The ROM includes a first memory area for storing a plurality of segment data respectively designating different segments of a character each segment having one or more dots arranged in a row and column of a pattern. The first memory also stores predetermined arrangement forms for forming line patterns. A second memory area of the ROM stores a plurality of character fonts each having a plurality of line pattern data which respectively specify a type segment forming a basis for each line pattern, and a dimension and an arrangement of said line patterns. The RAM includes a third memory area in which line patterns for at least one character are stored. The CPU reads from the second memory area a character font of a character to be formed, reads from the first memory area segment data specified by each of the line pattern data for the character font. The CPU determines the number of segments of said segment data needed for determining a size of the specified line patterns. The CPU forms the specified line patterns by arranging a needed number of the segments in said third memory area that correspond to the specified pattern arrangement, thereby forming a character pattern in combination with the line patterns arranged in the third memory area.

    摘要: A document sheet issuing system suitable for manufacturing a product based on an ordering by a retailer issues a plurality of documents, e.g., guarantee card, user registration card, on which data including a name of retailer is printed during manufacturing. The issued documents are attached to a carton box in which manufactured product is packed before the product is delivered to thereby reduce troublesome operation by the retailer. The system uses a laminated medium including a lower document sheet and an upper document sheet peelably laminated on the lower sheet. A first data is printed firstly on the lower sheet through the upper sheet and a second data different from the first data is then printed on the upper sheet.

The printing device further comprises a second memory. The control unit derives, from the character data stored in the first memory, outline-image data representing the outline portions of the characters represented by the character data, and writes the outline-image data into the second memory. It drives the printer in accordance with the character data stored in the first memory and also with the outline-image data stored in the second memory, thereby printing, with a first printing energy, those dots specified by both the character data and the outline-image data, and printing, with a second printing energy, less than the first printing energy, those dots specified by the outline-image data.

The printing control circuit then performs a second label issuing operation in which the thermal head is driven to continuously print a label or labels according to the second label data, and then performs the first label issuing operation again after the second label issuing operation is completed.

    摘要: A thermal printer includes a thermal head pressed against a paper sheet on a platen directly or through an ink ribbon, a carrier which holds the thermal head and on which a black or color ink ribbon is detachably mounted, a first detector for generating a color output signal upon detecting that a color ink ribbon cassette is mounted on the carrier, a second detector for generating a "black" signal while detecting a black area of the ink ribbon, and a control circuit for setting a thermal printing mode, a black or a color ink printing mode in accordance with the output signals from the first and second detectors. When the thermal printer is powered, the control circuit sets the color ink printing mode upon detecting that the color output signal is continuously generated from the first detector. When the color output signal is not generated from the first detector, the control circuit moves the thermal head by a given distance upon pressing it against the paper sheet on the platen. In this case, the control circuit sets the black ink or the thermal printing mode in accordance with the output signal from the second detector.
