摘要： A printing device comprising a character generator storing items of character data, each constituted by a plurality of printing dot data, a first memory for storing the character data read out from the character generator, a printer, and a control unit for driving the printer such that the printer prints the characters represented by the character data, accentuating the outline portions of each character. The printing device further comprises a second memory. The control unit derives, from the character data stored in the first memory, outline-image data representing the outline portions of the characters represented by the character data, and writes the outline-image data into the second memory. It drives the printer in accordance with the character data stored in the first memory and also with the outline-image data stored in the second memory, thereby printing, with a first printing energy, those dots specified by both the character data and the outline-image data, and printing, with a second printing energy, less than the first printing energy, those dots specified by the outline-image data.

A CPU controls a VCR block so that input information is recorded on a video tape when the video tape is ready for recording. When the video tape is not ready for recording, such as when searching for information recorded on the video tape is performed, the CPU controls a RAM block so that input information is temporarily recorded in RAM. When the video tape shifts from a state of not ready for recording to a state of ready for recording, the CPU controls the VCR block and the RAM block so that the information recorded in the RAM is transferred to the video tape for recording.

摘要： Video surveillance system which records compressed video signals on a record medium that have been compressed at a controllably selectable compression ratio. An image is picked-up by a camera and a video signal is produced therefrom. The video signal is compressed at a selectable compression ratio depending on the occurrence of a predetermined condition and the compressed video signal is recorded on a record medium. If the occurrence of a predetermined condition or event (or events) is not detected, the compression ratio is established to be a relatively high compression ratio, whereas upon the detection of the occurrence of the predetermined condition or event, the compression ratio is established to be a relatively low compression ratio. In addition, the compressed video signal may be recorded intermittently or continuously on the record medium depending on whether the predetermined condition is detected.

By recording video images from the plurality of video cameras at higher density, long-recording can be realized. By using the additional data, a desired reduced video image can be retrieved from the recorded composite video image and the retrieved reduced video image can be analyzed.
