摘要: A light-emitting body of the present invention includes an anode and a cathode at least partly facing the anode with the intermediary of a light-emitting material layer. An auxiliary electrode is formed, via an insulation layer, on the surface of the light-emitting body opposite to the surface where the anode faces the cathode via the light-emitting material layer. The cathode can be formed of a material that corrodes little. The light-emitting body therefore extends the life of a light-emitting device and therefore the life of a light-emitting display.

摘要: An organic EL device having a light emitting element including a first electrode (2), a second electrode (4) of transparent conductive film, and a light emitting organic material layer (9) formed between said first electrode (2) and said second electrode (4), wherein said transparent conductive film is made of a metal oxide deficient in oxygen as compared with stoichiometric composition. Since the transparent conductive film (4) directly in contact with the light emitting organic material layer (9) over a wide area is made of the metal oxide deficient in oxygen as compared with stoichiometric composition, the transparent conductive film can absorb moisture and oxygen which may possibly absorbed by the light emitting organic material layer so that the light emitting organic material layer is prevented from deteriorating, and the long emission lifetime of the element can be ensured.

摘要: An organic light-emitting device is provided, which increases the proportion of available light as much as possible and which produces higher brightness with less input power. The light-emitting device comprises: (a) a base having a surface; (b) a first electrode and a second electrode formed on the surface of the base; the first and second electrodes being located to be opposite to each other; (c) a light-emitting material layer located between the first and second electrodes; the light-emitting material layer having a first part and a second part; the first part being inclined with respect to the surface of the base at an inclination angle within a range from 45° to 90°; the second part being approximately parallel to the surface of the base; and (d) a carrier-blocking layer formed between the first electrode and the second part of the light-emitting material layer; the carrier-blocking layer having a function of blocking carriers emitted from the first electrode into the light-emitting material layer. The first part of the light-emitting material layer forms as a light-emitting region while the second part of the light-omitting material layer forms a non-light-emitting region. The output light is emitted from the light-emitting material layer by way of the base or the second electrode.

摘要: An organic EL element which has no layer that prevents penetration of holes and electrons to the counter electrode. The organic EL element includes: an anode, a hole injecting and transporting layer formed on the anode, a light emitting layer formed on the hole injecting and transporting layer, an electron injecting and transporting layer formed on the light emitting layer, and a cathode formed on the electron injecting and transporting layer. Ip2≧Ip3 is established when an ionization potential of a constituent material for the light emitting layer is Ip2 and an ionization potential of a constituent material for the electron injecting and transporting layer is Ip3. Ea1≧Ea2 is established when an electron affinity of a constituent material for the hole injecting and transporting layer is Ea1 and an electron affinity of the constituent material for the light emitting layer is Ea2.

摘要: An organic EL (electroluminescence) element capable of efficiently recombining holes and electrons in a light emitting layer and also improving efficiency and lifetime of the element. The element comprises electrodes 1 and 2, the light emitting layer 4, and transport layers 3 and 5 that transport holes and electrons to the layer 4. The layer 4 contains compound functioning as electron accepting dopant and/or substance functioning as electron donating dopant. Accordingly, it is possible to optimize the injection valance of holes or electrons into the layer 4.
