    摘要: The image observation apparatus includes a first image-forming element and a second image-forming element each of which forms an original image, and an optical system configured to introduce light fluxes from the first and second image-forming elements to an exit pupil position of the optical system where an eye of an observer is placed. The optical system includes an optical surface as a single surface that reflects the light flux from the first image-forming element and transmits the light flux from the second image-forming element. The first image-forming element and the second image-forming element respectively form a first original image and a second original image that correspond to different viewing fields from the exit pupil position. The apparatus combines plural original images to enable observation of one combined image and that can suppress generation of light scattering.

    摘要: One of a plurality of color components which form pixels in an image that is influenced by chromatic aberrations caused by an optical system is selected as a reference color, and coordinates after conversion are calculated by applying conversion for correcting a distortion of the optical system with respect to the image to coordinates of pixels in association with the reference color. Correction values indicating amounts of color misregistration are calculated using the proportional relationship of difference values between the calculated coordinates and coordinates obtained by applying the conversion to coordinates of the image in association with remaining colors except for the reference color of the plurality of color components. Based on the calculated correction values, coordinates obtained by applying the conversion to coordinates of the image in association with the remaining colors are calculated.

    摘要: The display optical system includes first to third surfaces each having at least a reflection function, and a fourth surface having a reflection function and disposed outside an inside area surrounded by the first to third surfaces. The light from an original image passes through the inside area and is reflected by the fourth surface to return into the inside area. The light that has returned into the inside area is reflected by the first surface and is reflected by the second surface toward the first surface to impinge again thereon. The light impinging again on the first surface is re-reflected thereby such that a central-viewing-angle principal ray of the light proceeds in a direction opposite to a direction in which that principal ray has previously reflected by the first surface. The light re-reflected by the first surface is reflected by the third surface toward an exit pupil.

    摘要: An image display apparatus having a compact size and appropriately achieving a larger field angle is disclosed while it has two optical systems guiding light from a single image forming device to both eyes. The apparatus has the single image forming device forming an original image, and a first and a second optical system disposed on both sides of a central plane including a central axis of the image forming device. The optical systems guide light from the image forming device to a first and a second eye of an observer, respectively. When light traveling from the image forming device to each pupil of the optical systems is inversely traced from the pupil, each system includes a first surface reflecting the inversely traced light from the pupil in a direction away from the central plane, and a second surface reflecting the inversely traced light from the first surface in a direction away from the central plane.

    摘要: A display optical system is disclosed which can attain a reduction in size and widening of an angle of view. The display optical system comprises an optical system including a first optical system and a second optical system. The first optical system includes a first surface decentered with respect to a central principal ray, and a second surface which reflects again light reflected on the first surface to the first surface. The first surface reflects the central principal ray incident on the first surface again from the second surface substantially to the opposite side to the previous reflection with respect to a normal on a hit point of the central principal ray. The first optical system directs light to an eye of an observer. The second optical system directs the illumination light to the image forming element and directs the display light to the first optical system.
