    Abstract: An electronic camera includes: a luminance detection device that detects a luminance of a photographic field; an image sensor that captures an image of a photographic subject; a light reduction device that changes over between reducing an amount of light from the photographic subject that is conducted to the image sensor, and not performing such light amount reduction; and a calculation device that, when moving image photography is started with the image sensor, decides whether or not to perform the light amount reduction with the light reduction device according to the luminance detected by the luminance detection device, and then calculates a control exposure for this moving image photography.

    Abstract: An electronic camera includes: a communication unit engaged in communication with an external device; a selection unit that selects a transfer method of a photographic image; a transfer control unit that controls the communication unit so as to start, in response to a command transmission from the communication unit to the external device, a transfer of the photographic image from the communication unit to the external device through the transfer method selected by the selection unit; a registration unit where information related to the photographic image to be transferred is registered; and a registration control unit that adjusts a registration method with which the information is registered in the registration unit in correspondence to the transfer method selected by the selection unit.

    Abstract: An electronic camera of the present invention includes: an imaging unit capturing a subject to generate an original image; a derivative image generating unit reducing resolution or color of the original image to generate a derivative image for transfer; a recording unit recording the original image and the derivative image thereon such that the original image and the derivative image get associated with each other; and a transfer unit transferring the derivative image recorded on the recording unit to an external transfer destination. In this configuration, the recording unit finds the derivative image (original image) by referring to the association with the original image (or derivative image), thereby collectively managing the original image and the derivative image. This makes it possible to prevent a user from being confused at image management due to the original image and the derivative image being the same image.

    Abstract: An electronic camera comprises: an image-capturing device that captures an image of a subject and generates first image data; a display device that displays an image; a display image generating device that generates second image data, which have a smaller number of pixels than the first image data and correspond to a display resolution at the display device, based upon the first image data; a recording device that records the first image data and the second image data into a recording medium; and a control device that first reads the second image data when reading the first data from the recording medium and displays on the display device an image based upon the second image data which have been read.
