Abstract:
A body member has a face plate and a first engaging member. A sole plate has a second engaging member, the first and second engaging members being interlocked with one another. A layer of resilient material is disposed between the first engaging member and the second engaging member.
Abstract:
A system, apparatuses and methods are provided to download and process data and other content streamed over a wide area network using one or more dynamically fetched, material specific, data handlers (e.g., download assistants). A download assistant fetches a data stream from a remote location and processes the streamed data iteratively using buffers and multi-threaded processes through the decoder (e.g., codec), allowing source material-specific processing of the data as it is streamed from one or more download sources as well as content-indifferent and platform-indifferent decoding. To minimize versioning issues, payload construction for secure delivery is simplified to packing and encrypting a directory tree containing any number of files or other digital media into an archive and, when needed, dividing a payload into multiple files or archives with a descriptor that lists the archives.
Abstract:
A system to monitor power loading in a plurality of power distribution units. The system includes a power monitoring gateway with a port configured to communicate with an internet protocol network using an internet protocol address. The power monitoring gateway is also configured to communicate with the plurality of power distribution units through a communication link that does not use internet protocol addressing. The communication link in some embodiments is a wireless link. In other embodiments, the communication link uses a single pair of wires with the power monitoring gateway and the power distribution units configured in a daisy chain topology.
Abstract:
We provide reporter gene constructs incorporating nucleic acid sequences from a promoter region of a gene or set of genes whose expression is modified in response to external or internal changes in the cellular environment such as biochemical stress or toxic conditions. The promoters are operatively linked to nucleic acid sequences chosen on the basis of the ease with which their transcription and/or translation products may be assayed so that the reporter gene constructs can provide a system capable of detecting intracellular conditions. Also described are transfected cell lines including the constructs and transgenic non-human animal models including the constructs.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a device for use in tattooing, and more particularly to one or more hard coated or treated needle holding tubes to be used in tattooing human and/or animal skin. An ordinary tattooing needle holder, also referred to as a tattooing tube, of practically any shape or design, may be improved by treating select surfaces of the tattooing tube that are exposed to tremendous frictional force from an oscillating tattooing needle. The tubes herein disclosed exhibit significantly improved life-span, reduced friction, increased lubricity, and reduced material degradation over traditional tube designs, resulting in cost savings to a commercial tattoo artist and increased safety for recipients of tattoos.
Abstract:
A power distribution unit includes a two pole circuit breaker having a first pole electrically coupled to an x-phase circuit portion of the power distribution unit and having a second pole electrically coupled to a y-phase circuit portion of the power distribution unit. The two pole circuit breaker is so designed that both of the two poles of the circuit breaker trip simultaneously and open even when an undesired electrical condition exists on the portion of the power distribution unit electrically coupled to only one of the poles.
Abstract:
A bracket shaped to support and position equipment such as an exemplary power distribution unit in various orientations in an equipment rack. The bracket has a number of slots to receive mounting screws for coupling the bracket to the equipment rack and to the equipment.
Abstract:
A system configuration manager provides a graphical user interface that allows a system administrator to easily administer configuration settings for different computer systems and platforms on a computer network. The system configuration manager allows identifying one system configuration or a settings profile as a “model system”. Once the model system is defined, other computer systems may be compared to the model system. Differences between the selected computer systems and the model system are then displayed, and the system configuration manager may be used to update the selected computer systems with configuration settings specified in the model system. Cross-platform support is provided by a configuration mapping mechanism that maps configuration information from one platform to corresponding configuration information for another platform. The configuration mapping mechanism effectively hides the differences between platforms by translating the configuration information from a selected platform to corresponding configuration information for the model system.
Abstract:
A surge suppression circuit with a thermal cutoff includes a first surge suppressor in series with a first thermal cutoff device between a phase conductor and a neutral conductor. A second surge suppressor in series with a second thermal cutoff device is between the phase conductor and a ground conductor. A third surge suppressor is in series with a low temperature thermal cutoff device between the neutral conductor and the ground conductor. The thermal cutoff temperature of the low temperature thermal cutoff device is lower than the thermal cutoff temperature of the first thermal cutoff device.
Abstract:
A surface-heating system heats a surface with a high-power wavefront at a millimeter-wave frequency. The high-power wavefront may be a collimated wavefront or a converging or diverging wavefront. In some embodiments, the system includes a frequency generator to generate a lower-power millimeter-wave frequency signal, and an active-array antenna system to amplify the millimeter-wave frequency and generate the high-power wavefront in a direction of a surface for heating the surface. In other embodiments, a frequency generator and power amplifier may generate a high-power power millimeter-wave frequency signal, and a passive-array antenna system may provide the high-power wavefront in a direction of the surface. In some embodiments, a thermal-sensing subsystem may measure the surface temperature and generate a control signal to maintain the surface temperature within a predetermined temperature range.
