In one embodiment, a method of recovering carbon dioxide from a gas stream, comprising: chemically reacting carbon dioxide with a phase-changing liquid sorbent to form a solid material; mixing the solid material with a liquid to form a slurry; pressurizing and transporting the slurry to a regeneration unit; and heating the slurry to form carbon dioxide gas and regenerated liquid sorbent.
