Abstract: A first communication device determines assignment of at least a first orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) tone block and a second OFDM tone block for communication with a second communication device in a wireless local area network (WLAN). The first OFDM tone block is separated from the second OFDM tone block by a gap in frequency. The first communication device generates a physical layer (PHY) data unit for transmission to the second communication device, including generating a data portion of the PHY data unit that spans the first OFDM tone block and the second OFDM tone block. The first communication device transmits the PHY data unit to the second communication device via the first OFDM tone block and the second OFDM tone block such that no data is transmitted in the third OFDM tone block for the data portion of the PHY data unit.

Abstract: A communication device of a client uplink group transmits an enhanced request to send (E-RTS) message to an access point of a wireless local area network, wherein the E-RTS message includes i) a length of a TXOP of the communication device and ii) an indication of a data unit size for an uplink MU-MIMO data unit to be transmitted by the communication device simultaneously with transmissions of other members of the client uplink group. The communication device receives a communication frame from the access point, the communication frame including a prompt to transmit an uplink MU-MIMO data unit having the indicated data unit size. The communication device generates the uplink MU-MIMO data unit having the indicated data unit size, and transmits, in response to the communication frame, the uplink MU-MIMO data unit to the access point during the TXOP simultaneously with transmissions of other members of the client uplink group.

Abstract: A first communication device receives an indication that a second communication device permits a duplex transmission while the second communication device transmits during a transmit opportunity period (TXOP), where duplex transmissions involve simultaneously transmitting and receiving via a same wireless frequency band. The indication is included in a media access control layer (MAC) protocol data unit (MPDU). In response to receiving the indication that the second communication device permits the duplex transmission, the first communication device determines that the first communication device is permitted to perform the duplex transmission during the TXOP. The first communication device receives a first packet from the second communication device during the TXOP, and transmits a second packet while the first communication device is receiving the first packet.

The first communication device transmits, during the SP, respective first ranging measurement feedback packets to the one or more second communication devices to allow each of the one or more second communication devices to determine a time-of-flight between the first communication device and the second communication device and/or receives, during the SP, respective second ranging measurement feedback packets from the one or more second communication devices to allow the first communication device to determine respective times-of-flight between the first communication device and the one or more second communication devices.

Abstract: A first communication device receives an aggregate medium access control data unit (MAC) protocol data unit (A-MPDU) that aggregates multiple MAC protocol data units from a second communication device. The first communication device generates an acknowledgment data unit that includes a length indication that indicates a length of an acknowledgement field and the acknowledgment field of the indicated length. The length of the acknowledgement field is selected from a subset of predetermined lengths, among a set predetermined lengths, that includes multiple predetermined lengths that do not exceed a maximum number of MAC protocol data units that can be included in the A-MPDU. The maximum number of MAC protocol data units is limited by a buffer size negotiated in an acknowledgement setup procedure previously conducted between the first communication device and the second communication device. The first communication device transmits the acknowledgment data unit to the second communication device.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein provide a method for fragmenting and reassembling data frames on a medium access control (MAC) layer in a wireless local area network. A datagram is received from an application running on a first network device, for transmission over a wireless communication link in the wireless local area network. A negotiation request is initiated with a second network device for determining whether both the first network device and the second network device have enhanced directional multi-gigabit capability (EDMG) for data segmentation and reassembly. When both devices have EDMG capability and the size of the datagram exceeds the maximum size defined by the wireless local area network transmission protocol, the datagram is segmented into a plurality of transmission data units on the MAC layer.

Abstract: In a method for communicating in a wireless communication network a trigger frame is generated to trigger simultaneous uplink transmissions by multiple communication devices. The trigger frame includes a padding portion having a length determined based on respective time duration requirements of the multiple communication devices, the respective time duration requirements for preparing uplink transmission by the corresponding second communication devices. The trigger frame is transmitted to the multiple communication devices. The simultaneous uplink transmissions, triggered by the trigger frame, are received from the multiple communication devices.

Abstract: An access point generates and transmits, to first client stations and a second client station, a downlink multi-user (MU) physical layer (PHY) data unit having respective media access control (MAC) data units for i) the first client stations and ii) the second client station. The downlink MU PHY data unit includes an indication that the first client stations are to acknowledge the downlink MU PHY data unit in an uplink MU PHY data unit, and indicates that the second client station is to acknowledge the downlink MU PHY data unit in another uplink PHY data unit separate from the uplink MU PHY data unit. The access point receives, from the multiple first client stations, the uplink MU PHY data unit, and polls the second client station to prompt the second client station to acknowledge, in another uplink PHY data unit, that the second client station received the downlink MU PHY data unit.

Abstract: A communication device generates a first portion of a physical layer (PHY) preamble of a PHY data unit to include a first plurality of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols. Each OFDM symbol of the first plurality of OFDM symbols is generated with a first OFDM tone spacing. The communication device generate a second portion of the PHY preamble to include a second plurality of OFDM symbols. Each OFDM symbol of the second plurality of OFDM symbols is generated with a second OFDM tone spacing that is a fraction 1/N of the first OFDM tone spacing, where N is a positive integer greater than one. The communication device generates a PHY data portion of the PHY data unit to include one or more third OFDM symbols. Each third OFDM symbol is generated with the second OFDM tone spacing.

Abstract: A client station receives from an access point (AP) a downlink packet that includes a trigger frame that is configured to prompt the client station to transmit an uplink packet to the AP. The trigger frame includes an indication of whether the client station is required to perform a channel sensing procedure to determine if one or more subchannels are not idle prior to transmitting the uplink packet. In response to the trigger frame indicating that the client station is required to perform the channel sensing procedure: the client station does not transmit the uplink packet in response to determining that the one or more subchannels are not idle. In response to the trigger frame indicating that the client station is not required to perform the channel sensing procedure, the client station transmits the uplink packet without measuring the one or more energy levels in the one or more subchannels.
