    Abstract: A measuring device includes a rotary encoder having a rotary scale and a plurality of detection portions, and a control device. The rotary scale are arranged around a rotation axis and has a scale pattern in which a plurality of patterns are arranged along a circumferential direction. The plurality of detection portions are arranged around the rotation axis, and reads the plurality of patterns from the scale pattern. The control device causes one or some detection portions to perform a first reading of the plurality of patterns at a first timing, causes another or other detection portions different from the one or some detection portions to perform a second reading of the plurality of patterns at a second timing different from the first timing, and calculates a measurement result based on a first reading result of the first reading and a second reading result of the second reading.

    Abstract: A reference voltage generator circuit generates a reference voltage corresponding to a power supply voltage. A current/voltage converter circuit converts a photocurrent output by a photoreceiver into voltage, and outputs a voltage obtained by adding the converted voltage and the reference voltage. A sample and hold circuit holds a voltage of a capacitor in response to a sample and hold signal, the capacitor having the voltage input at one end and the reference voltage input at another end. An amplifier circuit outputs an output signal where a voltage held by the sample and hold circuit is amplified with the reference voltage as a reference.

The microcomputer intermittently drives at least either one of the light emission unit and the signal conversion unit, and causes the position calculation unit to execute calculation according to a timing of intermit driving.

The rotary encoder 1 includes a rotor 3, a stator 4, and a calculating unit 5 for calculating the rotation angle.
