A method is devoted to the transmission, via a wave-based transmission infrastructure (RC) using an access method relying on multiplexing that is at least time division multiplexing, of content from at least one channel, each piece of content being arranged into one base data layer and at least one enhancement data layer, respectively associated with different transmission time slices, and broken down into portions transmitted during the time slices respectively associated with their layers. This method comprises i) the insertion, in a chosen location of each portion of a base data layer to be transmitted, within a chosen network layer, of at least one learning sequence processed according to a configuration scheme identical to that used to process the enhancement data layer, and ii) upon receiving a portion of a base data layer of a piece of content within a terminal (TC), extracting the learning sequence inserted into a chosen network layer, then estimating the reception quality based on that extracted learning sequence, and allowing it to use the next portion of the content's the enhancement data layer whenever the estimated quality is above a chosen threshold.

A method manages the state of a plurality of micro base stations inside a mobile communication network. The network comprises at least a macro cell containing at least one Tracking Area covering a plurality of micro cells each one associated with a micro base station. The method to manage the states of micro cells comprises the steps of: switching on of all the micro base stations contained in said Tracking Area of the macro cell, counting of the messages of paging to determine the number of portable devices in Idle mode inside said Tracking Area, and switching off at least one micro base station in the Tracking Area when the number of portable devices in Idle mode in the said Tracking Area is lower than a first determined value. According to an improvement, the switching on of all the micro base stations contained in a Tracking Area is triggered when the current load of the macro cell exceeds a second determined value.

This device includes a calculation unit tasked with i) estimating, for each logic entity of a synchronization area of the network, the time, with respect to a reference clock when said entity received a selected packet from the broadcast and/or multicast source, then ii) determining, for each logic entity, a value that represents the time difference between its reception time and the latest reception time among those of the logic entities, and iii) ordering each logic entity to wait for a period of time equal to the value which was determined for it before retransmitting each packet received from the broadcast and/or multicast source to the terminals located within its synchronization area.
