摘要： Charged, high-strength, high-modulus, melt-processed microfibers, films having a charged, microfibrillated surface, and methods of making the same are described. Charged microfibrillated articles of the invention can be prepared by imparting fluid energy, typically in the form of high-pressure water jets, to a highly oriented, highly crystalline, melt processed film to liberate microfibers or microfibrous flakes therefrom. Microfibrillated articles of the invention find use as tape backings, in the preparation of woven or nonwoven articles, filters for particulate contaminants, such as face masks and water or air filters, fibrous mats, such as those used for removal of oil from water, wipes for dust or debris removal, and thermal and acoustical insulation.

摘要： A respiratory mask 1 has a molded, cup-shaped, shape-retaining shell 10 on the concave side of which is a layer of filter material 11 and, on the concave side of the filter material, without any intermediate shape-retaining layer, a layer of nonwoven material 12. The layer of filter material 11 and the inside layer 12 are conformed into the cup-shaped configuration of the shape-retaining shell 10. The inside layer 12 is preferably a smooth BMF material offering improved comfort to the wearer.

摘要： A method of making a respirator, which method includes placing an electret in a respirator body that is adapted to fit over the nose and mouth of a wearer. The electret is disposed in the respirator body such that air passes through it before being inhaled by a respirator wearer. The electret includes a nonwoven web that has fluorinated polymeric microfibers and that has at least about 25% atomic fluorine as detected by ESCA and a CF3:CF2 ratio of at least about 0.45.
