    摘要: A compter-based log processing system is described herein for exploring a subsurface formation and that uses log signals and dip signals. The system includes signal processing circuitry for storing each signal as a value individually within a universally formatted relational data base, for identifying any portions of the log signal and the dip signal that are unacceptable, and means for replacing the identified unacceptable portions of either signal with a corresponding acceptable portion from the other signal. Further, the system has the capability of processing dipmeter data, as well as log data, utilizing conventional log processing editing, plotting, and analysis programs on a single system.

    摘要: Coherent powder compositions are formed by blending a powder phase containing at least 5 weight percent calcium sulfate hemihydrate with a liquid phase containing sufficient water to fully convert the hemihydrate to calcium sulfate dihydrate and drying the resultant blend. Uniformly pigmented products are formed by including a powdered pigment in the powder phase and 0.1 to 4.0 weight percent surfactant in the aqueous phase. Compositions suitable for use as cosmetic sticks are formed by employing at least 40 weight percent calcium sulfate hemihydrate. Preferably the products are formed by combining 40 to 60 parts by weight of aqueous phase with 50 parts by weight of powder phase. To improve pay-off characteristics the products are subjected to a temperature above 128.degree. C., the outer surface is abraded or up to 20 weight percent of the aqueous phase is glycerin or propylene glycol.

    摘要: The use of an effective amount of ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) or one or more of its derivatives, has been found to decrease skin irritation caused by the topical administration of an active ingredient for treating a skin condition. Examples of the active ingredient include .alpha.-hydroxy acids, .beta.-hydroxy acids, keto acids, benzoyl peroxide, retinol (Vitamin A), retinoic acid, retinal A.sub.2, Vitamin A epoxide, lactamides and quaternary ammonium lactates, C.sub.4-12 hydroxylated carboxylic acids, sulfur, resorcinol and salicylic acid, and various derivatives thereof. The ascorbic acid (or its derivatives) is present in effective amounts from about 0.5% to about 25% by weight. It is provided by topical application of a separate solution or by admixture with a cosmetically or pharmaceutically acceptable vehicle for the active ingredient.
