Abstract:
A system for applying secondary fluids to vehicular exhaust after-treatment apparatus utilizes a mixing chamber coupled for receipt of a portion of the vehicle's exhaust flow. A source of secondary fluid is coupled to the mixing chamber and a fluid distribution element is positioned in a mean exhaust flow conduit upstream of the exhaust after-treatment apparatus. The fluid distribution element presents a preselected pattern of fluid flow toward an upstream face of the after-treatment apparatus.
Abstract:
A process for producing hydrogen for use in a subsequent methanation process includes electrochemically converting water into hydrogen and oxygen. The hydrogen is depleted with electrolyte aerosols. Then, the electrolyte aerosols are separated from the depleted hydrogen in a wet electrostatic precipitator in a hydrogen atmosphere.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a wood paving stone, especially to a ready-to-install interlocking wood paving stone and wood surface covering manufactured therefrom, one wood paving stone having a base body 1 with at least one top and bottom side 1.1, 1.2, the top side 1.1 forming the walking surface and the bottom side 1.2 forming the support surface of the wood paving stone. In an advantageous embodiment, the base body 1 has a multi-layer structure and the base body has one upper panel-like or block-like wood layer 2 and at least one additional support layer 3 forming the bottom side 1.2 of the base body 1, which are connected with each other directly or indirectly.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for the detection of oligonucleotides using anion exchange high performance liquid chromatography. Fluorescently labelled peptide nucleic acid oligomers, complementary to the oligonucleotide are hybridized to the oligonucleotides. Anion exchange high performance liquid chromatography is then performed and the hybridized moieties detected and quantitated. The invention also relates to a method for the simultaneous detection of both strands of an oligonucleotide in parallel from one sample, and a kit for use in qualitative and quantitative detection of one or two strands of an oligonucleotide

Abstract:
A machining apparatus for a shaft-type workpiece has a housing or frame defining a pair of spaced and upright side walls and a vertical front wall bridging the side walls. Vertical guides on one of the side walls carry a vertically shiftable headstock and tailstock capable of rotating a workpiece about an upright axis. Horizontal guides on the front wall carry a turret adapted to hold first machining tools and horizontally shiftable for engagement of the first tools with a workpiece held and rotated by the headstock and tailstock. A holder on the other of the side walls can hold a workpiece with an end of the workpiece exposed so that a second tool can engage and machine the exposed end of the workpiece.
Abstract:
A component for a vehicular exhaust pipe includes an upstream venturi forming portion for creating at least a partial vacuum interior to the component. A downstream diverter housing portion of the component has an inlet coupled to an outlet of the venturi portion. The diverter housing portion includes the diverter element positioned adjacent an output of the diverter housing portion for forcing axially central exhaust flow radially outward toward a wall of the diverter housing. The partial vacuum in the component device causes colder environmental ambient air to enter an inlet of the component. The diverter also creates a mixture of hot exhaust flow with the colder environmental air, resulting in a lower temperature of the exhaust gas exiting the component and substantial elimination of centrally disposed exhaust hot spots.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a method for locating a large number of fibre ends of a bundle of optical fibres, in particular glass, quartz or synthetic fibres, into a number of pre-determined positions encompassing the following steps: the glass, quartz or synthetic fibres are brought to bear against a fixing device encompassing a multitude of apertures for the glass, quartz or synthetic fibre ends, the fixing device and/or the multitude of glass, quartz or synthetic fibre ends protrude through the apertures of the fixing device in such a way that the glass, quartz or synthetic fibre ends are located in the pre-determined position.
Abstract:
A refrigerated case (20) has a body (22). The body has a refrigerated compartment (24) and an air flowpath (100). The body includes a lower wall (156) below the air flowpath. A drain pipe (150) protrudes from the lower wall and has a lower outlet (166). A refrigerant air heat exchanger (72) is along a refrigerant flowpath and within the air flowpath. The body further includes a water trap vessel (152) having an upper end (176) secured to the base, a lower portion (174) surrounding the drain outlet, at least one vessel outlet (170) above the drain outlet, and a segmented rim flange. The body includes a plurality of features (240) engaging an underside of the flange along respective segments to vertically and laterally retain the water trap vessel and permit removal of the vessel via a rotation of the vessel.
Abstract:
A machining apparatus has a frame defining a transfer station and a machining station thereabove, a spindle having a workpiece grab and vertically displaceable on the frame between an upper position with the grab in the machining station and a lower position with the grab in the transfer station, a tool holder horizontally displaceable on the frame toward and away from the machining station, and a workpiece conveyor extending through the transfer station. After shifting a deflector underneath the machining station into a side position out from underneath the grab, the grab is lowered to pick an at least partially unmachined workpiece in the transfer station off the conveyor and then raised with the workpiece into the machining station. The deflector is then shifted between a use position over the transfer station and under the machining station and a side position allowing the spindle to pass.
