摘要： A mask is provided for administering medication, particularly asthmatic medication, to equine animals, particularly horses. The mask has a body that fits over the nostrils of the horse. An aerosolization chamber is secured to the body and opens into the interior thereof, and is supplied with misted medications such as from a metered dose inhaler, for inhalation by the animal. The mask and body is also provided with one or more exhalation ports, and a strap or band or the like for securing the body to the animals face overlying the nostrils.

摘要： An indicating device for indicating the number of dosages of medicament dispensed from a container includes a housing, a single indicator member nested the housing, an actuator and a drive mechanism. The drive mechanism is periodically engageable with the single indicator member. The drive mechanism is operable to advance the single indicator member an incremental amount when the drive mechanism is engaged with the single indicator member. The single indicator member remains stationary and is free of engagement from the drive mechanism for at least some reciprocal movements of the actuator. A dispensing device and a dispensing system are also provided.

摘要： An indicating device suitable for indicating the number of metered dosages that have been dispensed from or remain in a container including a base member, a cap member moveably connected to the base member, an indicator member rotatably mounted to one of the cap member and base member and a drive member. The indicator member comprises a first stop member, and the drive member comprises a second stop member. The first stop member engages the second stop member as the indicator is moved to the final position. The engagement between the first and second stop members prevents the drive member from being rotated about the second axis. In another preferred embodiment, an inhalation device for dispensing metered dosages of medicaments from a container includes a container having a predetermined number of metered doses and the indicating device. A method for indicating the number of metered dosages of medicaments dispensed from or remaining in the container is also provided.

摘要： A face mask assembly and method of assembling a face mask is provided for a patient that includes a face piece sized to fit over the patient's nose and mouth. The face mask assembly forms a mask chamber between the face piece and the patient's nose and mouth. An inhalation adapter is coupled to the face piece to deliver medication to the chamber. A filter housing is coupled to the face piece and includes a flange section that defines a passageway to connect the mask chamber and the flange section. A filter is positioned in the filter housing. A cover is coupled to the flange section and has an exhalation opening or vent to allow gases from the mask chamber to pass through the filter and escape from the passageway to the atmosphere.

摘要： A medicament dispensing device for dispensing metered dosages of medicaments from a container. The device includes a container and an indicating device. The container has a first end and an opposite second end spaced from the first end along a longitudinal axis. The first end includes a valve stem extending longitudinally therefrom and moveable between a closed position and an open position. The container contains a plurality of metered dosages of medicaments, with the valve stem dispensing one of the plurality of metered dosages when the valve stem is moved to the open position. The second end has an end surface. The indicating device includes a housing and an indicator member disposed in the housing. The housing is mounted to the second end of the container with a bottom surface thereof disposed adjacent the end surface of the second end of the container. The housing and the second end of the container have substantially the same shape.

摘要： The invention provides an aerosol medication delivery apparatus for use with a pMDI canister having medication and a propellant contained therein under pressure, wherein the pMDI canister has a discharge orifice from which the medication and propellant can be discharged forming an aerosol. The apparatus has a chamber housing having an input end and an output end and defining an interior space, wherein the input end receives the medication discharged from the discharge orifice of the pMDI canister into the interior space and wherein the medication can be withdrawn from the interior space by inhalation by a patient from the output end. The aerosol medication delivery apparatus also includes a valve at the output end. The valve has a valve seat and a valve member. The valve seat has a sealing surface and the valve member has a central open area and a sealing portion at the perimeter of the open area that mates with the sealing surface when the valve is closed. The valve allows medication to be withdrawn through the central open area but prevents backflow into the chamber housing.

摘要： An indicating device for indicating the number of metered doses of medicaments that have been dispensed from or remain in a container having a valve stem extending longitudinally therefrom and moveable between an open and closed position. The indicating device includes a base member adapted to be mounted to the container, a cap member moveably connected to the base member, an indicator member rotatably mounted to the cap member and an indicating mechanism adapted to rotate the counter member an incremental amount upon a predetermined number of axial movements of the cap member relative to the base member. A preferred embodiment of the indicating device includes a ratchet wheel, a drive member selectively engaging the indicating member, a pawl selectively engaging the ratchet wheel, and a non-return member adapted to selectively engage the ratchet wheel so as to maintain a unidirectional rotation of the ratchet wheel. A method for indicating the number of metered doses dispensed from or remaining in the container comprises moving the cap member toward and away from the base member, engaging the ratchet wheel with the pawl and engaging the indicating member with the drive member. A method of assembling an inhalation device including an indicating device is also provided.

摘要： A mask is provided for the inhalation of medication, such as asthmatic medication. The mask is molded of a resilient plastic or rubber material and has a central through opening and includes an open front portion adapted to receive an aerosolization chamber which receives medication from a metered dose inhaler. A sidewall expands outwardly from the open front portion and is adapted to fit sealingly on a face covering the mouth and nose. The sidewall is provided with an extension to accommodate the nose. A one-way exhalation valve is provided in the mask, preferably at the far end of the nose accommodating extension for conveying exhaled air to the outside, and preventing entrance of outside air therethrough into said mask.

A sonic signalling device is provided which is exposed to the inside of the inhaler and to outside air. The sonic signalling device comprises an integrally molded plastic body and vibratory reed. If a person inhales too rapidly, the reed will be set in vibration by reduced pressure inside the inhaler, whereby to generate a pleasant musical tone to alert the user that he is inhaling too rapidly.
