摘要： By transforming a duobinary signal, a value of -1 cannot appear again after a value of zero following -1 as shown in a string of -1.fwdarw.0.fwdarw.-1 and a value of 1 cannot appear again after a value of zero following 1 as shown in a string of 1.fwdarw.0.fwdarw.1. Narrow-band transmission is made possible by the fact that the direct current (DC) component of a duobinary signal can be eliminated and reproducible original information can be recorded by discriminating its even level as a one (1) and its odd level as zero (0). Since the DC component can be eliminated, electromagnetic conversion systems are subjected to less distortion, leading to a reduction in the probability of coding errors.

摘要： The present invention includes a motion vector detector for detecting motion vectors using a first image signal of high resolution; a resolution reducer for creating a second image signal of low resolution from the first image signal; an image signal interpolater for interpolating the second image signal so that it has the same number of pixels as the first image signal, thereby creating an interpolated signal; a differentiator for determining a differential between the first image signal and the interpolated signal; and an encoder for using the motion vectors to high-efficiency-encode the differential signal. Thus, by encoding two types of image signals of different resolutions, the present invention improves the accuracy of the motion vectors during the encoding of the high-resolution signal and reduces the rate after encoding due to the encoding of the differential signal.

摘要： A magnetic tape recording/reproducing apparatus for recording video signals on a magnetic tape without providing a guard band between each two adjacent signal tracks. The apparatus comprises a first switching circuit for exchanging 2-channel component signals every nH period to obtain two combined signals each composed of the 2-channel signals which alternate every nH period, two modulators for modulating the two combined signals, a head section having two pairs of rotarty magnetic heads for recording the modulated signals on the magnetic tape so that each two adjacent blocks contain a same channel component signal and for reproducing the recorded signals from the magnetic tape, two demodulators for demodulating the reproduced signals, and a second switching circuit for exchanging the demodulated signals every nH to obtain the 2-channel component signals. With this arrangement, the recording density is remarkably increased and the cross talk interference hardly occur.

摘要： A large volume of digital media home information output from each of audio, visual, computer and communication (AVCC) apparatuses is transmitted to a digital media home information network at a high data speed and is received by one AVCC apparatus. Also, a small volume of digital environment home information output from each of self-management apparatuses such as an energy sensor, a security sensor and a health care sensor is transmitted to a digital environment home information network at a low data speed and is received by a digital information transmitting/receiving and protocol converting unit. In this unit, a protocol of the digital environment home information in the digital environment home information network is converted into that in the digital media home information network, and the data speed of the digital environment home information in the digital environment home information network is changed to that in the digital media home information network. Thereafter, the digital environment home information is received and processed by one of the AVCC apparatuses. Therefore, because both the networks are integrated by the converting unit, the digital media home information and the digital environment home information can be used at user's home at a low cost.

摘要： N-channel component signals (N.gtoreq.3) of a video signal is recorded and reproduced by N pairs of magnetic heads in any tape speed mode. The N pairs of heads are mounted on a circumference of a rotary cylinder so as to be disposed in the rotating direction of the rotary cylinder at substantially constant intervals of (180/N) degrees with each pair of heads being disposed to be apart by substantially 180 degrees from each other. The relative heights of the heads in each pair in an axial direction of the rotary cylinder are substantially the same. The widths of the N pairs of heads are substantially the same. Signal timings are adjusted by delay circuits before recording and after reproduction.

摘要： A magnetic tape recording/reproducing apparatus comprises a recording signal processing section, a head section, and a reproduced signal processing section. The recording signal processing section comprises a plurality of recording signal processing circuits each for converting a video signal to one or more recordable signals, and a first switch circuit for selectively connecting one of the recording signal processing circuits to the head section. The head section has a plurality of magnetic heads mounted on a single rotary cylinder for recording the recordable signals on a magnetic tape and reproducing the recorded signals from the magnetic tape. The reproduced signal processing section comprises a plurality of reproduced signal processing circuits each for converting the reproduced signals to the original video signal, a second switch circuit for selectively connecting one of the reproduced signal processing circuits to the head section, and a recognition circuit for recognizing what kind of signals are reproduced from the head section and producing a control signal for controlling the second switch circuit.

摘要： In a system for connecting a video signal recording/reproducing apparatus and a color TV receiver, two component signals--a luminace signal and a carrier chrominance signal--are transmitted separately from each other from the video signal recording/reproducing apparatus to the TV receiver. The video signal recording/reproducing apparatus has first and second output terminals for respectively outputting luminance and carrier chrominance signals obtained from a color video signal reproduced from a recording medium. The color TV receiver has first and second input terminals adapted to be respectively connected to the first and second output terminals of the video signal recording/reproducing apparatus for receiving the luminace and carrier chrominance signals. The color TV receiver may be provided with a switching circuit for selecting a composite video signal received in the conventional manner or the separately received two component signals.
