In the housing of the cleaning device, a spiral roller for letting out a toner recovered into the housing is disposed above the cleaning blade. A partition wall is disposed between the cleaning blade and the spiral roller, and a toner movement space for moving the toner recovered into the housing is formed between the front end of the partition wall and the circumferential surface of the cleaning roller.

摘要： A cleaning device of an image forming machine including a pair of arm members each having one end portion pivotable about a support shaft, a cleaning roller rotatably supported between front end portions of the arm members via a shaft, helical compression springs for urging the arm members so as to bring the cleaning roller into contact under pressure with the surface of a photoconductor drum, a drive gear of the photoconductor drum, and a driven gear of the cleaning roller in mesh with the drive gear. Each of the arm members is disposed axially outwardly of the photoconductor drum. The center of the support shaft of each of the arm members is either placed on an extension of a line of action passing the point of engagement between the drive gear and the driven gear, or placed on an extension of a straight line passing the point of engagement, the straight line being within an angular range of some angle to the line of action.

摘要： A driving mechanism for use in an image forming apparatus has a rotary shaft, a driving joint, a drum gear, a cleaning roller gear, and a transfer roller gear. The rotary shaft extends through a photosensitive member along an axis of rotation of the photosensitive member. The rotary shaft is rotatably supported at the opposite axial end parts thereof by bearings, respectively. The rotary shaft is un-rotatably jointed to the photosensitive member relative thereto at a lateral side part of a rear end part of the rotary shaft corresponding to the rear side of the image forming apparatus. The driving joint is jointed to the rear end part of the rotary shaft protruding from the photosensitive member at the rear side of the image forming apparatus to input a rotating force of a drum motor to the photosensitive drum. The drum gear is provided at the rear side of the photosensitive member. The cleaning roller gear and the transfer roller gear are in mesh with the drum gear. The rotary shaft has a mass larger than the photosensitive member.

摘要： A developing device supplies developer to an electrostatic latent image bearing body of an image forming apparatus. The developing device includes a container housing with an opening in a position opposite to the electrostatic latent image bearing body and stores developer to be supplied to the electrostatic latent image bearing body. A developing roller is rotatably disposed so that a part of the developing roller is exposed from the opening. A regulator is disposed along an axial direction of the developing roller and has a leading end facing the developing roller to regulate the thickness of developer layer on the developing roller. Two holders support the developing roller and the regulator on the container housing. Each holder includes a developing roller support for supporting an end part of the developing roller and a regulator retainer for retaining the regulator on the container housing.

摘要： The image-forming machine has an electrostatic latent image-bearing member on which an electrostatic latent image will be formed and an exchangeable developing unit. The developing unit includes a developing housing, a developing agent contained in the developing unit and a developing agent applicator for applying the developing agent onto the surface of the electrostatic latent image-bearing member. A counter is provided that counts the number of times the developing unit has been used and that can be reset. In the developing unit is disposed a developing agent depletion detector that detects the depletion of the developing agent. The developing unit further has a reset that resets the counter when the use of the developing unit is started. When the developing agent depletion detector has detected the depletion of the developing agent, a developing unit exchange signal is formed to indicate that the developing unit be renewed. The developing unit exchange signal is formed even when the counter has counted a predetermined number that corresponds to the life of the developing unit.

摘要： An image-forming machine equipped with a transfer device of the type not using a transfer corona discharger is disclosed. A charge supply member is disposed opposite to an image forming member on whose surface a toner image is to be formed, and at a greater distance than the thickness of a transfer material from the image forming member. A voltage of a predetermined polarity is applied to the charge supply member. In a transfer zone, the surface of the transfer material is brought into contact with the surface of the image forming member, while the back of the transfer material is not contacted with the surface of the charge supply member.
