    摘要: An outboard engine comprises an engine having a crankshaft (36) extending vertically, a flywheel 56 provided on the crankshaft (36) below the engine body, an oil pump (58), and a flywheel chamber (59) defined by a pump body (65) of the oil pump (58) united to coupling walls 61, 62 of the engine body to accommodate the flywheel 56; and a mount case (4) having a support wall 64 for uniting the engine body. The engine body is united with its coupling walls (61, 62) to the support wall (64) via an outer circumferential wall (63) of the pump body (65) such that the coupling walls (61, 62), outer circumferential wall (63) and support wall (64) overlap in the direction of a rotation axis of the crankshaft (36). Such outboard engine permits a connecting portion between the engine body and the mount case, which are united together via the oil pump body, to be decreased in size and weight.

    摘要: A compact and lightweight outboard engine (1) mounted to a boat stern by a mounting device having a tilt shaft comprises: an engine (2) including a flywheel (56) positioned at a lower end portion of a vertically extending crankshaft, and an oil pan positioned below the flywheel (56). An upper wall of a flywheel chamber (59) accommodating the flywheel 56 is made up of a bottom wall of a crank chamber made of a crankcase (30), etc., and a bottom wall (30a) of the crankcase (30) forming a front portion of the engine body (3) has a return oil path 71 formed forward of an inner circumferential wall surface (60e) of a circumferential wall (60) of the flywheel chamber (59) and having inflow openings (71a, 71b) through which lubricant oil flows from the crank chamber. Such outboard engine prevents output loss by preventing or minimizing lubricant oil staying in the crank chamber while the engine is driven in a tilt-up condition.

    摘要: An engine cooling system for an outboard motor includes a thermostat mounted on an upper surface of a cylinder block to open and close a cooling water passage depending on the temperature of cooling water inside the cooling water passage, and a relief valve mounted on an upper portion of a side wall of the cylinder block and located adjacent to the thermostat to open and close the cooling water passage depending on the pressure of cooling water inside the cooling water passage. Since the relief valve is located adjacent to the thermostat, the distance (length of an isolated portion of a drainage passage extending) between the thermostat and the relief valve is very small. In the case where the isolated drainage passage portion has no cooling water flowing therethrough, the pressure of the cooling water inside the cooling water passage rises until the relief valve is open. When the relief valve is open, the cooling water flows into the drainage passage with the result that a sufficient cooling effect can be attained over the entire area of the cooling water passage including the isolated drainage passage portion.

    摘要: A cylinder block is coupled to a cylinder block/cylinder head coupling surface of a cylinder head by ten bolts which are disposed to surround outer peripheries of combustion chambers. In order to enhance sealability of an opening of a cooling water passage defined radially outside the bolts as viewed from the combustion chambers, the cylinder block and the cylinder head are further fastened to each other by a bolt disposed in the vicinity of the opening. Thus, the fastening force of the cylinder block/cylinder head coupling surface can be increased to increase the degree of freedom in design of the opening of the cooling water passage defined in the coupling surface.

    摘要: A disclosed engine assembly comprises an engine; a crank shaft having an end extending outward from inside the engine; a rotating body mounted at the end of the crank shaft; a cover body mounted on the engine so as to cover the rotating body; the cover body comprising a lower cover that covers at least lower part of the rotating body and an upper cover connected to the lower cover so as to cover at least upper part of the rotating body; the lower cover having at least one ventilating intake port for sucking hot air located around the engine under the intake port; the upper cover having a ventilating exhaust duct for discharging the sucked hot air; the rotating body including a timing belt located near one side of the engine, a tensioner located near one side of the engine and having a mounting position adjustment bolt for adjusting a tension on the timing belt, and a manually starting pulley located on one side of the engine outside the timing belt; and the starting pulley having at least one opening located so as to engage with the amounting position adjustment bolt of the tensioner. This constitution enables hot air existing around the engine under the lower cover to be discharged smoothly to the outside of the engine cover via the cover body, thereby preventing hot air from being stranded under the lower cover. In addition, the position of the mounting position adjustment bolt can be perceived easily by simply aligning the opening with the bolt.

    摘要: An outboard engine structure is provided including an engine mounted in an upper portion of the structure, wherein an exhaust gas from the engine is passed through an exhaust passage located vertically within an engine body case, into a lower portion of the case and discharged into water. A catalytic converter is positioned adjacent an oil pan the said engine. The oil pan is mounted in a suspended manner in an upper area within the engine body case and the catalytic concerted is incorporated in the middle of the exhaust passage. The catalytic converter is fixed to and supported on the oil pan. Thus, it is easy to place the catalytic converter in the engine body case.

A surge tank is disposed in a space defined between both the banks and connected to two left and right combustion chambers through intake ports. A throttle body is connected to a lower portion of the surge tank and also to an intake silencer mounted in a left space of the engine room through an elbow. A subsidiary tank for supplying a fuel to an injector is disposed symmetrically with the intake silencer in a right space of the engine room. The employment of the above-described layout makes it possible to make an intake device move compact in the 4-cycle engine.
