Abstract:
A digital video broadcasting receiver comprising a first input for receiving a first transport stream of data (TS#1) and a second input for receiving a second transport stream of data (TS#2), each transport stream comprising a plurality of packets and each packets having a header including a packet identifier PID. A de-scrambling device (12) receives packets of a transport stream for de-scrambling. A router (20) is arranged to pass packets alternately from the first TS#1 and the second TS#2 transport streams to the de-scrambling device 12 and to pass packets alternately to a first a second output, so restoring the first and second transport streams of data in a descrambled form.
Abstract:
A system and method is disclosed for enabling individualized software functions in a device. In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention software is distributed as omnibus installations containing various software modules that are initially turned off. The user gains access to the turned off modules by requesting a certificate from a system provider. The system provider creates and transmits a certificate containing the information required to enable the desired module. The device can then use the certificate to access the desired software.
Abstract:
A digital receiver has a hard disk drive for storing and playing back digital broadcast content. During playback, the user can mark insert bookmarks. Sections of content can be extracted and stored in a file. Bookmarks and/or extracted content can be transferred to a mobile telephone handset or other digital receiver.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for distributing keys of the sort used for purposes including logging onto computer networks, accessing authorized domains, and accessing persistently-protected data. Also discussed is a smart card that offers network connectivity to a media device.
Abstract:
A system and method is disclosed for providing DRM in a broadcast environment. In accordance with the embodiment, a DRM system distributes encrypted service keys over the mobile telephone network to a mobile terminal. The mobile terminal receives the encrypted service key and uses it to decrypt encrypted content keys received from a DVB set top box. The decrypted content keys are sent to the set box over local link where they are used to decrypt encrypted broadcast content. A power management technique for mobile receivers is also disclosed that enables the receiver hardware to power off during a portion of the rendering process.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for identifying secret data messages in a one-direction multipoint network. The identifying of the data messages is carried out with the help of identification used for the error check. With the help of the method according to the invention it can be identified to whom or to which group a message is potentially transmitted without increasing the number of bits in the information transmitted and without opening all the secret data messages.
Abstract:
MMS messages are sent to a set top box for display on a television receiver (7). The MMS messages can be routed from a message centre (MMSC1) through a digital broadcasting network (4) to the STB. The messages can be directed to one of a number of individual message addresses associated with the STB. Also MMS messages can be multicast to individual addresses from a group service provider (9).
