Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses pertaining to long-range low-power integrated wireless transmission in channel gaps and guard spectrum are described. A method may involve facilitating wideband wireless communications in a plurality of wideband channels in a frequency spectrum with every two adjacent wideband channels of the plurality of wideband channels separated by a respective channel gap therebetween. The method may also involve facilitating narrowband wireless communications, while facilitating the wideband wireless communications, in a plurality of narrowband channels that are multiplexed in the channel gaps, guard bands at both ends of the frequency spectrum, or both.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses pertaining to opportunistic peak-to-average power ratio reduction in multi-user multi-input and multi-output (MU-MIMO) wireless communication are described. A method may involve determining whether a length of a payload of each spatial stream of a plurality of spatial streams is less than a predetermined length for transmission of each spatial stream of the plurality of spatial streams. The method may also involve padding one or more time slots associated with a first spatial stream of the plurality of spatial streams with one or more special symbols other than zero in response to a determination that the length of a first payload of the first spatial stream is less than the predetermined length. The method may further involve transmitting the first spatial stream which includes the first payload and the one or more special symbols.

Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses pertaining to coordination and provision of non-interfering long-range low-power wireless communications may involve facilitating wireless communications among a first set of wireless devices in a first frequency band when operating in a first mode in which there is frequency overlap and no spatial overlap among the first set of wireless devices. Moreover, wireless communications may be facilitated among a second set of wireless devices in a second frequency band different from the first frequency when operating in a second mode in which there is spatial overlap and no frequency overlap among the second set of wireless devices.
Abstract:
An emergency mode is provided in a portable electronic device for locating a survivor in a disaster. The device includes a wireless antenna to transmit and receive wireless signals; a memory to store one or more identifiers; a user interface to receive a command that enables the emergency mode. The device also includes one or more processors, which, in response to the command, detect via the wireless receiver a predetermined identifier that matches a stored identifier identifying a sender of the predetermined identifier as a trusted node. When the predetermined identifier and a timing measurement frame are received from the trusted node, the device sends a response to the trusted node to indicate its presence.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods are described for a telematics system for a vehicle. The vehicle telematics system identifies available computing resources of a mobile device. The vehicle telematics system identifies a task of the telematics system that can be performed by the identified available computing resources of the mobile device and dispatches the identified task to the mobile device to be performed.
