    摘要: Disclosed is a method of halogenating the ring of an aromatic compound. The aromatic compound is contacted with a halogenating agent in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst. The catalyst is the calcination reaction product of:(A) 51 to 99 wt % of a support which comprises at least one inorganic oxide or hydroxide of at least one metal that is at least divalent and forms a metal-to-oxygen matrix during calcination; and(B) 1 to 49 wt % of at least one dopant which comprises a compound that places an element that is at least divalent, bonded to oxygen atoms, into said matrix during said calcination, resulting in the formation of an acidic solid.

    摘要: A method of making a solution of a polyimide from a diamine monomer and a dianhydride monomer is disclosed. A solution or slurry of one of the monomers in a solvent that boils at a temperature between about 80° C. and about 160° C. is prepared. The solution or slurry is heated to a temperature between about 80° C. and about 160° C. and the other monomer is slowly added to the solution or slurry. Polyamic acid that is formed quickly imidizes to form the polyimide.

    摘要: A radio frequency-identification (RFID) tag comprises a substrate, a single, continuous antenna having a plurality of spiral turns and end portions that are integral with the spiral turns, and an integrated circuit. The spiral turns are disposed on the substrate and at least one of the end portions crosses over at least some of the spiral turns. One end portion of the antenna is integrally connected to the innermost spiral turn and extends toward an outermost spiral turn to cross over at least some of the spiral turns. Another end portion of the antenna may be integrally connected to the outermost spiral turn and extend toward the innermost spiral turn to cross over at least some of the other spiral turns. The end portion(s) may cross over the spiral turns on the side of the substrate on which the spiral turns are disposed or on the opposite side.

    摘要: A composite containing an RFID can be mounted on, in, or adjacent a metal object without de-tuning of the antenna of the RFID. The composite includes a first RFID or a EAS device-containing layer, and a foamable material layer held in proximity with the first layer. The foamable material layer expands in size and reduces in density when subjected to external stimuli, such as heat or microwaves. The foamable layer may comprise an intumescent material, and may have RF radiation-absorbing material filler. Pressure sensitive adhesive, when the composite is in a label form, may be used to mount the composite on or adjacent a metal object after printing of the printable surface of the composite, and the foamable material layer is subjected to the external stimuli after printing and either before or after mounting on or adjacent the metal object.

    摘要: Disclosed is a method of making a substituted diphenyldisulfide from a substituted thiophenol. A two phase reaction mixture is prepared which comprises a substituted thiophenol having the general formula ##STR1## hydrogen peroxide, water, an organic solvent, a basic salt that will give a pH between about 7 and about 10, and an optional flocculating agent. In the formula, R is selected from the group consisting of halogen, alkyl from C.sub.1 to C.sub.6, alkoxy from C.sub.1 to C.sub.6, or nitro. After the exothermic reaction is complete, the reaction mixture is cooled to crystallize the substituted diphenyldisulfide product. The symmetrical product precipitates preferentially over the unsymmetrical product, thereby enhancing the purity of the product over the purity of the starting material. Optionally, the organic solvent and the aqueous phase are recycled.
