摘要: A payment card (e.g., credit and/or debit card) is provided with a magnetic emulator operable to act as a magnetic stripe read-head detector and a data transmitter. A multiple layer flexible PCB may be fabricated to include multiple magnetic emulators. An emulator may include a coil that includes magnetic, ferromagnetic, or ferromagnetic, material in the coil's interior. Coils may be associated with zones. As a read-head is detected to move from zone-to-zone, coils may be activated to transmit information in those zones.

摘要: A MOS RF surveillance and/or identification tag, and methods for its manufacture and use. The tag generally includes an interposer, an antenna and/or inductor on the interposer, and integrated circuitry on the interposer in a location other than the antenna and/or inductor. The integrated circuitry generally has a lowest layer in physical contact with the interposer surface. The method of manufacture generally includes forming a lowest layer of integrated circuitry on an interposer, forming successive layers of the integrated circuitry on the lowest layer of integrated circuitry, and attaching an electrically conductive functional layer to the interposer. Alternatively, an electrically conductive structure may be formed from a functional layer attached to the interposer. The method of use generally includes causing and/or inducing a current in the present tag sufficient for it to generate, reflect or modulate a detectable electromagnetic signal, detecting the signal, and optionally, processing information conveyed by the detectable electromagnetic signal. The present invention advantageously provides a low cost RFID tag capable of operating at MHz frequencies that can be manufactured in a shorter time period than conventional RFID tags that manufacture all active electrical devices on a conventional wafer.

摘要: In accordance with an embodiment, an IC chip for a recording agent cartridge comprises a contact interface, a non-contact interface, a memory and a switching section. The contact interface communicates with a first external device in a wired manner. The non-contact interface communicates with a second external device in a wireless manner. The memory stores identification information. The switching section switches between a first mode capable of accessing the memory via wired communication and a second mode capable of accessing the memory via wireless communication. The switching section switches between the first mode and the second mode depending on whether access information is acquired via the contact interface or the non-contact interface.

A web of material is provided to at least one cutting station in which a first pattern is generated in the web of material. A further cutting may occur to create additional modifications in order to provide a microchip attachment location and to selectively tune an antenna for a particular end use application. The cutting may be performed by a laser, die cutting, stamping or combinations thereof.

摘要: Methods, apparatuses and systems for radio frequency identification (RFID)-enabled information collection are disclosed, including an enclosure, a collector coupled to the enclosure, an interrogator, a processor, and one or more RFID field sensors, each having an individual identification, disposed within the enclosure. In operation, the interrogator transmits an incident signal to the collector, causing the collector to generate an electromagnetic field within the enclosure. The electromagnetic field is affected by one or more influences. RFID sensors respond to the electromagnetic field by transmitting reflected signals containing the individual identifications of the responding RFID sensors to the interrogator. The interrogator receives the reflected signals, measures one or more returned signal strength indications (“RSSI”) of the reflected signals and sends the RSSI measurements and identification of the responding RFID sensors to the processor to determine one or more facts about the influences. Other embodiments are also described.

摘要: Systems for switchable RFID tags responsive to an environmental sensor are provided. In one embodiment, the system includes a primary RFID tag and a secondary RFID tag, and a switch being associated with the primary RFID tag and the secondary RFID tag in a manner that the primary RFID tag and the secondary RFID tag are not activated at the same time. Each RFID tag may include an integrated circuit and an antenna. The system may also include at least two first electrical terminals electrically connecting the primary RFID tag to the switch, and at least two second electrical terminals electrically connecting the secondary RFID tag to the switch.

摘要: A chip card manufacturing method. A module includes a substrate supporting contacts on one surface and conductive paths and a chip on another; and an antenna on a holder, the antenna including a contact pad for respectively connecting to each of the ends thereof. A solder drop is placed on each of the contact pads of the antenna. The holder of the antenna is inserted between plastic layers. A cavity is provided, in which the module can be accommodated and the solder drops remain accessible. The height of the solder drops before heating is suitable for projecting into the cavity. A module is placed in each cavity. The areas of the module that are located on the solder drops are heated to melt the solder and to solder the contact pads of the antenna to conductive paths of the module.

摘要: A wireless sensor includes environment sensing structure, a radio frequency (RF) front-end, and a processing module. When the wireless sensor is positioned proximal to an object, a portion of the environment sensing structure senses an environmental condition in a remote area of the object that effects a characteristic of the RF front-end. The processing module generates a reference value representative of a known environmental condition in the remote area based on the effect on the characteristic of the RF front-end. The processing module generates a sensed value representative of an unknown environmental condition in the remote area based on the effect on the characteristic of the RF front-end when the environment sensing structure is sensing the unknown environmental condition. The processing module transmits, via the RF front-end, at least one of the reference value, the sensed value, or a difference between the reference value and the sensed value.
