摘要: Systems and methods for auto-resetting span power protection are provided. In one embodiment, a method for deactivating a protective device is provided. The method comprises determining when an overload condition occurs on a communication medium; when the overload condition occurs, deactivating at least one protective device by applying, for a first predetermined period of time, a short-circuit to an output of a power supply that provides a holding current to the at least one protective device; and after the first predetermined period of time has elapsed, removing the short-circuit on the output of the power supply.

摘要: An improved circuit and method for increasing the stability of switch-mode power supplies via frequency fold-back is disclosed. For example, a circuit for increasing the stability of a switch-mode power supply using the compensation signal to control the frequency of the oscillator is disclosed, which includes an operational amplifier that functions to scale the compensation signal. Thus, the switching frequency of the power supply involved is decreased as the load is reduced. This novel use of the compensation signal to control the switching frequency of a switch-mode power supply significantly increases the stability of the power supply as compared to prior switch-mode power supplies. Therefore, the switch-mode power supply may be used for those applications where relatively high stability is desired.

摘要: The germ and noise filter device is a disposable, hand held filter apparatus that covers the mouth of the user during the exhale phase of a cough. The device comprises: a body with a cavity that houses three micro-filters; a corrugated tube; two one-way valves and a mesh screen. The body can be made of durable plastic material that may be transparent or a combination of many attractive colors. The two one-way valves act as a filter element for the noise that would normally occur. An eyelet is formed on the body to allow the device to be worn about the person. When a cough is eminent, the opening of the device is engaged against the user lips to prevent the transmission of air-borne diseases and reduce the noise of the coughs.

摘要: A data error detection method for a bit, byte or word oriented network wherein a protected data unit 46 and an associated data check unit 50 are addressed to a particular field device located on the network, 10 or 26. The data check unit 50 is derived in a particular manner either solely from the protected data unit 46 or from the protected data unit 46 and particular binary codes representing attributes of the network 10 or 26 and the field device sending the protected data unit 46. The particular configuration of the checking data unit 50 is such that the receiving field device or the host 22 can perform a bit-by-bit comparison of either the received protected data unit 46 or data check unit 50 with a protected data unit 46 or data check unit 50 derived in the particular manner by the receiving host 22 or field device 14 or 18.

摘要: A method for separating from a group of articles being conveyed along a conveyor system the leading article of the group, wherein the group of articles is conveyed by a first independently operable upstream conveyor (3) towards a second independently operable downstream conveyor (4), and the first conveyor (3) is stopped or reduced in speed relative to the second conveyor (4) after all or a substantial part of the leading article has passed onto the second conveyor (4). This introduces a speed differential between the leading article and the rest of the group and resulting in the leading article being drawn away from the rest of the group. Once the leading article has travelled forward on the second conveyor (4) by a distance sufficient to space it from the rest of the group, the first conveyor (3) is restarted.

摘要: Devices, materials and methods for the detection of one or more target analytes, particularly volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in air or other gases. Point sensors and sensor arrays for the detection of one or more of such analytes in air or other gases. Sensors employ the detection of IR absorption of wavelengths characteristic of a target analyte or a class of target analytes to detect the presence of and/or measure the concentration of one or more target analytes in air or other gases. Sensors employ sorbent layers into which one or more of the target analytes are adsorbed from the air or other gases to be analyzed. Preferred sorbent layers comprise polymer sorbents, metal oxide sorbents or mixtures thereof.
