摘要: A leaky waveguide antenna array that receives and/or transmits electromagnetic signals includes a plurality of radiation waveguides disposed in parallel to each other on a surface plane to form the antenna array. A feed waveguide is located below the surface plane and provides an electromagnetic signal to the plurality of radiation waveguides and/or receives a plurality of electromagnetic signals from the plurality of radiation waveguides and provides a composite electromagnetic signal at an output of the feed waveguide. Each of the plurality of radiation waveguides has a waveguide axis and includes a plurality of apertures arranged in a direction of the waveguide axis. The feed waveguide includes a first section of waveguide having a first end connected to an input/output port. The first section of waveguide has a height substantially the same as the height of each of the plurality of radiation waveguides and the first section of waveguide has a second end coupled to a first junction point. The first junction point transitions from the first section of waveguide to a second section of waveguide and a third section of waveguide that each have a height that is substantially half of the height of the first section of waveguide. The second section of waveguide transitions with an upward sloping ramp to the substantially half height of the first section of waveguide. The third section of waveguide transitions with a downward sloping ramp to the substantially half height of the first section of waveguide. The third section of waveguide is substantially a mirror image of the second section of waveguide. The feed waveguide also includes a septum connected to vertical walls of the first, second and third sections of waveguide which aids in the transition from the height of the first section of the waveguide to the height of the second section and the third section of waveguide. Each of the second section of waveguide and the third section of waveguide are coupled to a corresponding first signal port and second signal port of the feed waveguide. Each of the first signal port and the second signal port are coupled to a corresponding one of the plurality of radiation waveguides.

摘要: A communication system and methodology for providing a signal of interest to at least one movable platform, for possible use by passengers associated with the movable platform, from an information source, where the movable platform is not within a signal coverage area of the information source. The method includes transmitting an information signal with a transmitter located at the information source, receiving the information with a first transmitter/receiver unit located on a first movable platform within the signal coverage of the information source, and re-transmitting the information signal with the transmitter/receiver unit to a receiver located on a second movable platform that is not within the signal coverage area of the information source. The method may further include repeating the steps of receiving and re-transmitting the information signal with at least one additional transmitter/receiver unit, to provide the information signal between the first movable platform and the second movable platform.

摘要: Disclosed is a cable in which one tube holding light waveguides is connected by a plastic web to another tube holding metallic current carrying conductors. When buried in the earth, the cable may be located by means of a magnetic field produced by the current carrying conductors, but the cable retains the advantage of the tube carrying the light waveguides being dielectric.

摘要: A data buffer apparatus to interface subsystem which operate at differing or varying data timing rates utilizing a random access memory unit for data storage. Input data is clocked into an input register synchronously with an input clock. A write/read sequence generator writes the input data from the input register into the random access memory unit. The write/read sequence generator read data out of the random access memory unit into an output holding register. The data from the output holding register is clocked at an output clock rate into the output data register from which the data is transferred out of the data buffer apparatus.
