摘要:
A constant velocity joint boot assembly includes a boot-can having an axially extending main cylindrical body, a radially extending transition portion, an axially extending and generally cylindrical mounting portion. The radially extending transition portion intersects the axially extending main cylindrical body and the generally cylindrical mounting portion. A flexible boot member may be attached to an inner surface of at least two of the cylindrical body, the transition portion and the mounting portion at a coupling region.

A constant velocity joint and a boot for a constant velocity joint are disclosed. The boot generally includes a first channel and a second channel. The first channel is in fluid communication with a joint chamber of the constant velocity joint. The first channel is also in communication with the second channel and generally allows airflow therethrough while resisting clogs from lubricant. Additionally, the second channel generally allows airflow therethrough to the atmosphere while resisting passage of foreign contaminants therethrough.

A method for predicting an exhaust gas temperature. The method includes detecting a plurality of exhaust gas temperatures and applying a weight value to the detected plurality of exhaust gas temperatures to determine a plurality of weighted temperature values. The weight value applied to at least one detected exhaust gas temperature may be different than the weight value applied to at least one other detected exhaust gas temperature. The method also includes determining an estimated temperature corresponding to the plurality of weighted temperature values and the applied weight value. The estimated temperature may be used to determine a set-point for the storage or absorption of a reductant by a catalyst. Moreover, the estimated temperature may allow for an adjustment to the reductant being stored on the catalyst if the storage capacity of the catalyst may be changing based on a predicted change in exhaust gas temperature.

A vent valve for a constant velocity joint is disclosed. The vent valve may generally include a body disposed in a bore of the cover which is axially movable in the bore and allows fluid flow through the bore, a first umbrella portion associated with a side of the body which defines a first gap between a first surface of the cover and the first umbrella portion, and a second umbrella portion associated with an opposite side of the body which defines a second gap between a second surface of the cover and the second umbrella portion.

A peripheral device (which is preferably a disk drive) can automatically collect trace data upon detecting certain error conditions. The peripheral device has the ability to selectively alter the range of state data collected in a trace depending on the error type. Preferably, the device includes a programmable processor executing a control program. A set of trace switches, each enabling a corresponding set of trace points, can be independently set by the control program. An error trace identification table identifies, for each error type, a corresponding set of trace switches. If an error is encountered, the trace switches corresponding to the error type are determined from the table, and the switches are set accordingly. In another invention aspect, a set of trap switches in the device can be set to trap on the occurrence of a specific error type, thereby supporting a more detailed error analysis.

A constant velocity joint may include a joint chamber and a cover defining a bore and configured to seal the joint chamber and prevent lubricant from leaving the joint chamber. A vent valve may be disposed within the bore and define at least one opening. The opening may be a one-way valve configured to exhaust gas from the joint chamber and while maintaining lubricant within the joint chamber.
