    摘要: A cap acting as a grease retention feature and venting system allows crash optimization of a propeller shaft with a plunging constant velocity joint. The cap is located between a constant velocity joint and a tube of the propeller shaft system. The cap includes: a rim sealed against the inner diameter of the constant velocity joint, an interior vent chamber, a vent hole facing the interior components of the constant velocity joint and leading to the vent chamber, and an annular radial groove along the entire circumference connected to the vent chamber. The outer race has a hole perpendicular to the joint axis to complete venting to the atmosphere. In the event of a vehicle crash, the constant velocity internal joint components contact the device, causing the device to dislodge from its fixed position, contact the friction weld curls and fracture at a determined load.

    摘要: A slip yoke assembly including a slip yoke having a long bore extending between a first end and a second end and a counterbore at the second end of the long bore. The counterbore has a first wall which defines a first diameter which is greater than a major diameter of the long bore. An annular groove is positioned between the long bore and the first diameter. A sealing member is disposed within the annular groove. The slip yoke assembly also includes a plug disposed within the counterbore and over the sealing member. The plug is secured to the slip yoke by a lip formed over the plug.

    摘要: The present invention intends to solve the problems of greasing work efficiency and lubricating ability of a double Cardan joint by forming a dual type of a constant velocity universal joint. The dual type constant velocity universal joint of the present invention includes two constant velocity universal joints. Each constant velocity universal joint includes: a cylindrical outer ring 1 in which a plurality of guiding grooves 1b that extend in an axial direction are formed on a spherical inner circumferential surface; an inner ring 2 in which a plurality of guiding grooves 2b that extend in an axial direction are formed on a spherical outer circumferential surface; balls 4 for torque transmission each of which is disposed in each of a plurality of ball tracks which are through coordination between the guiding grooves 1b of the outer ring 1 and the guiding grooves 2b of the inner ring 2; and a cage 5 for holding the balls 4. The outer ring 1 are coaxially integrated with back to back, and a place between the outer circumferential surface on the opening side of the outer ring 1 and shafts 3, 10 connected to the inner ring 2 is covered with a boot having a metal ring 8.

    摘要: A joint assembly has a secured type constant velocity universal joint, a slide type constant velocity universal joint, and substantially cylindrical elastomer unit covers. The secured type constant velocity universal joint includes one outer joint member formed with a plurality of curved and axially extending first track grooves on its inner circumference. A joint inner ring is formed on its outer circumference with second track grooves opposite to the first track grooves. Torque transmitting balls are contained within ball tracks formed by the first and second track grooves. A cage rollably holds the torque transmitting balls within the ball tracks. A drive shaft has one end connected to the joint inner ring. A boot is mounted on the drive shaft and on an outer circumference at an opened side of the one outer joint member. The slide type constant velocity universal joint includes a boot mounted on the drive shaft and on an outer circumference at an opened side of the outer joint member. The unit covers have reduced diameter portions and are mounted on the outer circumferences of both the constant velocity universal joints. Each of the unit covers is formed as two parts divided along a parting plane including its axis. Each has radially extending flat abutting surfaces on the parting plane. Fastening portions are formed on the abutting surfaces and adapted to be engaged, via an elastic deformation of them, so that the unit covers are detachably mounted on both the constant velocity universal joints.

    摘要: A sealing assembly is incorporated into a constant velocity universal joint. The joint has an inner joint part connected to a shaft shank and an outer joint part which is sealed relative to the shaft shank and which has a flange face, relative to which outer joint part there is braced a counter flange which has a counter flange face. A sealing cover is disposed at the outer joint part, and clamped in an edge region between the outer joint part and the counter flange. The flange face directly contacts the counter flange face in an annular contact region. An annular gap is formed radially inside the contact region between the flange face and the counter flange face. The sealing cover is located in the annular gap with its edge region. The sealing cover is connected to the outer joint part by means of an adhesive layer which consists of a sealing agent and which is applied so as to have a sealing effect relative to the flange face and relative to the sealing cover. The sealing cover is at least partially displaced into the annular gap by the counter flange while being under permanent pretension.

    摘要: A driven steering shaft assembly especially for a planetary steering shaft is formed with a universal joint interposed between an axle shaft extending from a differential and a steering shaft for driving a wheel hub or the inner central gear of a planetary set, with the universal joint coupling the axle shaft and the steering shaft together. The universal joint includes an outer joint member coupled with one of the shafts and an inner joint member coupled with the other shaft. A sealing boot is operatively coupled to seal the interior of the universal joint and the sealing boot is releasably attached with the outer joint member of the universal joint. A neck portion of the sealing boot engages the steering shaft in releasable connection therewith but axially slideably movable relative thereto. The sealing boot is formed with an inherent resiliency in the axial direction of the assembly enabling it to adjust to the greatest axial length and permitting the universal joint together with the axial sealing boot to be removed without detachment of the fastening means of the sealing boot.
