摘要： An information processing apparatus having unique information connected to a network together with a plurality of other information processing apparatuses each connected to the network and each having unique information is provided. The apparatus receives unique information for identifying all of the information processing apparatuses on the network, and obtains a network structure of the network based upon the unique information of all of the information processing apparatuses. The apparatus counts a number of connections between all of the information processing apparatuses on the network based upon the network structure, and controls the communication timing of the information apparatuses on the network based upon the number of connections. The apparatus obtains a topology map of the network based upon the unique information of each of the information processing apparatuses. The apparatus stores the topology map, stores the appropriate timings corresponding to number of the connections, and controls the communication timing.

摘要： When a signal path in a signal outputting device is changed, the signal outputting device indicates signal path change information representing the change in the signal path to a signal inputting device. Based on the signal path change information, the signal inputting device adaptively changes a signal path between the signal outputting device and the signal inputting device. The signal inputting device can know the signal path in the signal outputting device easier than heretofore, and can simply change the signal path between the signal outputting device and the signal inputting device.

摘要： The present invention relates to a signal processing system, and proposes the switching operation of device selection which is naturally performed for a user. The signal input device 5 comprises a registration means for registering the signal output devices 3, 4, and an establishment means for, when an establishment request signal requesting the establishment of a signal path is sent from any signal output device 3, 4 out of a plurality of the signal output devices 3, 4, judging whether the signal output device 3, 4, which sent the establishment request signal, is registered in the signal input device 5, and establishing the signal path between the signal output device 3, 4 and the signal input device 5 depending on the judged result, thereby avoiding unnatural operation which is not performed in accordance with user operation, thus making it possible to perform the switching operation of device selection which is naturally performed for a user.

摘要： An object of this invention is to enable a lock transaction to be carried out between apparatuses connected through a bus such as IEEE 1394 method with fewer data transmission processings. If a register conditionally writable is mounted on a desired apparatus connected through the serial communication bus, when it is intended to write into an apparatus having this register through the bus from other apparatus, a value estimated to be written in the register is obtained by a predetermined processing and then, that value and a value desired to be written into the register are instructed directly so as to control the write into the register.

摘要： A control device and control method are suitable for copying digital data between electronic devices connected to one another via a digital data bus. A digital broadcast receiver receives and decodes a digital broadcast signal, and outputs the resulting video signal to a display and the resulting audio signal to a speaker. The digital broadcast receiver also exchanges decoded video signals and audio signals with digital recorders/players that are connected to one another via an IEEE 1394 data bus. Further, the digital broadcast receiver controls a digital data copy operation that is performed among the digital recorders/players connected to the IEEE 1394 data bus.

摘要： A communication controlling system which permits plural broadcast programs from plural broadcast program providers to be viewed easily and inexpensively. For a case wherein plural broadcast signals containing a hierarchy in need of differential scrambling and a hierarchy that permits common demodulation, encoding or demultiplexing are transmitted/received on a bus 1, the system includes signal processing devices 3 to 5 for performing descrambling and a reception device 2 for performing common processing, such as demodulation, encoding and demultiplexing. The bus 1 is the IEEE1394 bus, so that, if any one of plural broadcast programs is designated, the signal processing device corresponding to the designated broadcast signals can be automatically set by the control node on the bus 1, at the same time as a path used for transmitting/receiving signals between the reception device 2 and the signal processing device as set can be set or cancelled.
