摘要： A ZIF socket assembly used with a package (6) comprises a ZIF socket (5), an actuating tool (8) and a protector (7). The socket comprises a base (51) and a sliding cover (53). The base comprises a recess (514) at an end thereof. The sliding cover is moveable assembled on the base for mounting the package and comprises a slot (533) in alignment with the recess. The protector is placed on the package and comprises a number of legs (71) extending downwardly for pressing against edges of the package. A contacting portion (73) extends outwardly from an edge of the protector and has a guiding face (75). The actuating tool is inserted into the recess through the slot and is rotatable from an initial, inclined position to a final, vertical position to drive the cover, the package and the protector to move with respect to the base.

摘要： A socket connector (1) includes an insulative housing (2) and a plurality of terminals (7) received in the housing. The housing defines a plurality of passageways (24) for accommodating the corresponding terminals. Each passageway forms a step (248) therein for dividing the passageway into a receiving channel (246) and an interfering channel (242). Each terminal defines a fastening portion (70) for securing the terminal in the passageway and the fastening portion forms a pair of straight interfering sides (710). The distance from one of two straight interfering sides to the other is greater than the width of the interfering channel. When the terminal is installed into the housing, the terminal is firmly positioned in corresponding passageway by virtue of the interfering force between the two straight interfering sides and the interfering channel.

摘要： A retainer device for attaching a heat sink (80) to a CPU (95) includes a retention module (10), a clamp (40), and a crank (70). The retention module has a rectangular base frame (12), and four posts (14, 16, 18, 20) extending upwardly from the base frame. The clamp has two spaced hinge portions (48) pivotably received in two rearmost posts of the retention module. A hook (52) depends from a front of the clamp. The crank has an offset pressing portion (72), two pivot arms (74) extending from opposite ends of the pressing portion, and an operation rod (76) extending perpendicularly from one end of one pivot arm. The pivot arms are pivotably received in two frontmost posts of the retention module. When the operation rod is rotated down toward the heat sink and locked at one rearmost post, the pressing portion resiliently presses the hook of the clamp.

One of the side walls defines a pair of protrusions (2310′) protruding towards the cavity, wherein the two protrusions are coplanar with each other. The other side walls define a protrusion thereof respectively. Therefore, a first benchmark is obtained by a line joining the pair of protrusions on the side wall, and a second benchmark is determined by a line passing the protrusion on the adjacent and perpendicular side wall, perpendicular to the first benchmark.

The pick up cap includes a planar body (10) with a smooth top surface (100) and a bottom surface thereof. In use, the pick up cap is mounted between the clip and the housing, therefore, it is close to the contacts and covers nearly all the exposed contacts, thereby providing the protection of the contacts.
