摘要:
A solid state gas sensor may include gas sensing element coupled to a substrate. The gas sensing element may have a desired operating temperature, which may be between 100 and 400 degrees Celsius. The sensor may further include a temperature sensor coupled to the substrate and configured to sense an operating temperature of the sensing element and provide a feedback signal representative of the operating temperature. The sensor may further include a heater having a heat output. The heater may be responsive to the feedback signal to adjust the heat output to drive the operating temperature to the desired operating temperature. A detector such as a smoke detector or carbon monoxide detector having such a solid state gas sensor is also provided. An associated method is also provided.

摘要:
A magnetostrictive element for use in a magneto-mechanical marker has a resonant frequency characteristic that is at a minimum at a bias field level corresponding to the operating point of the magnetomechanical marker. The magnetostrictive element has a magnetomechanical coupling factor k in the range 0.28 to 0.4 at the operating point. The magnetostrictive element is formed by applying cross-field annealing to an iron-rich amorphous metal alloy ribbon (45 to 82 percent iron) which includes a total of from 2 to 17 percent of one or more of Mn, Mo, Nb, Cr, Hf, Zr, Ta, V. Cobalt, nickel, boron, silicon and/or carbon may also be included. The metal alloy may include one early transition element selected from the group consisting of Zr, Hf and Ta, and also a second early transition element selected from the group consisting of Mn, Mo, Nb, Cr, and V.

Systems (100) and methods (600, 1800) for making a marker. The methods comprise: obtaining a resonator material which has been annealed under a tensile force selected to provide a maximum resonant amplitude at a bias field; providing by a bias material of the marker an operating bias field with a value less than a value of the bias field; forming a first housing portion from a flexible material so as to have a planar shape; and forming a second housing portion from the flexible material so as to comprise a cavity in which the resonator and bias materials can be housed when the second housing portion is coupled to the first housing portion. The cavity is defined by two opposing short sidewalls, two opposing elongate sidewalls (OESW) and a bottom sidewall. Each of OESW is stiffened by forming a plurality of first stiffener edge features along an exterior surface thereof.
