Abstract: Disclosed herein is method for preparing a masterbatch by dispersing chemically modified cellulose nanofibers having carboxy groups under acidic conditions and then mixing the dispersed cellulose nanofibers with rubber latex. More specifically, the present disclosure provides a method for producing a masterbatch, including: (A) a step of introducing a carboxy group to a cellulose-based raw material to prepare a modified cellulose; (B) a step of carrying out defibration treatment and dispersion treatment of the modified cellulose to prepare a cellulose nanofiber; (C) a step of acidifying the cellulose nanofiber to prepare an acid type cellulose nanofiber, and (D) a step of mixing the acid type cellulose nanofiber and a rubber component. The rubber composition having excellent strength such as tensile strength can be provided by using the obtained masterbatch.

Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a rubber composition that has tensile strength at break and tensile elongation superior to a rubber composition produced without mixing a cellulose nanofiber and to provide a latex immersion liquid that is a raw material for the rubber composition and is used at a latex immersion step. Namely, the present invention provides a latex immersion liquid that includes (1) a rubber latex, (2) a modified cellulose nanofiber having an average fiber length of 200-400 nm, and (3) a defoaming agent and also provides a rubber composition produced through a latex immersion step using the obtained latex immersion liquid.

Abstract: The present invention aims to provide a method for producing a masterbatch with improved rubber physical properties such as tensile strength at break, rigidity, and fuel economy at high productivity by enhancing the amount of fillers incorporated into rubber and the dispersibility of fillers in rubber, as well as related products. The present invention relates to a method for producing a masterbatch, including: step (1) of mixing a rubber latex having a zeta potential of −100 to −20 mV with a filler dispersion having a zeta potential of −120 to −10 mV to prepare a latex compound; step (2) of adjusting the zeta potential of the latex compound obtained in step (1) to −30 to 0 mV; and step (3) of solidifying the coagulum obtained in step (2) with an organic solvent.

Abstract: The present invention aims to provide a rubber composition which has further enhanced dispersion of microfibrillated cellulose in rubber to provide excellent processability and further to provide excellent rigidity, tensile properties, and fuel economy while maintaining a good balance between them. The present invention also aims to provide a pneumatic tire formed from the rubber composition with high productivity which provides excellent handling stability, durability, and rolling resistance properties while maintaining a good balance between them. The rubber composition of the present invention contains: a rubber component; a chemically modified microfibrillated cellulose; and a filler, the chemically modified microfibrillated cellulose having a structure in which the hydroxyl hydrogen atoms of microfibrillated cellulose are partly substituted with a cationic group of a cationic group-containing compound.
