Abstract: In one example, a filtering device has a housing that defines an inlet opening, first and second bores with first and second pistons therein, respectively, first and second inlet channels that extend from the inlet opening to the first and second bores, respectively first and second outlet channels in communication with the first and second bores, respectively, and a first backflush channel. The first piston defines a filter cavity in fluid communication with the first inlet and outlet channels when the first piston is in a production mode. The second piston defines a filter cavity in fluid communication with the second inlet and outlet channels when the second piston is in the production mode. The device has a backflush valve that compresses fluid into the filter cavity of the first piston via the first backflush channel to increase pressure in the cavity during a backflushing operation.

Abstract: A filtering device for removing dirt particles and contaminants from a plastic melt is disclosed. The filtering device includes a housing having a filter chamber, an inlet for feeding plastic melt, an outlet for channeling plastic melt out, and a dirt outlet for discharging dirt particles from the housing. The filtering device also includes a filter element arranged in the filter chamber to retain any dirt particles contained in the stream of melt, and a cleaning unit for cleaning the filter element of dirt particles retained by means of the filter element. The cleaning unit having a cleaning head with a scraper member for detaching dirt particles from the filter element. The scraper member is coupled to a servomechanism to press the scraper member onto the surface of the filter element. The servomechanism has at least one bellows cylinder including a foot section, a head section, a deformable bellows element, and a pressure chamber of variable volume.

Abstract: A filtering device for removing dirt particles and contaminants from a plastic melt is disclosed. The filtering device includes a housing having a filter chamber, an inlet for feeding plastic melt, an outlet for channeling plastic melt out, and a dirt outlet for discharging dirt particles from the housing. The filtering device also includes a filter element arranged in the filter chamber to retain any dirt particles contained in the stream of melt, and a cleaning unit for cleaning the filter element of dirt particles retained by means of the filter element. Abstract: A filter candle to separate contaminants from a plastic melt is disclosed. The filter candle has a filter element through which a melt flow is directed to retain contaminants contained in the melt flow, and a supporting body to support the filter element. The supporting body is a hollow body having multiple passages for the melt flow. At least one additional supporting body is on the side of said filter element that faces away from the supporting body. The additional supporting body acts on surface regions of the filter element and/or accommodates them such that the filter element can be backwashable.
