摘要： An image forming apparatus includes: an image carrier; an intermediate transfer unit including an intermediate transfer body onto which an image on the image carrier is transferred, and plural rotation members around which the intermediate transfer body is wound, each rotation member rotating around a rotation axis, the intermediate transfer unit detachably attached, in the rotation axis direction, to an apparatus main body; a secondary transfer unit that makes contact with and separates from the intermediate transfer body, the secondary transfer unit provided at an opposite side of the rotation members across the intermediate transfer body; a positioning unit that, when the intermediate transfer unit is attached to the apparatus main body, positions the intermediate transfer unit in the secondary transfer unit side at least at two points differently located in the rotation axis direction; and a securing unit that secures the intermediate transfer unit to the apparatus main body.

摘要： There is provided an image forming apparatus capable of finely cleaning a transfer roll at all times by regulating the relation between a mechanical adhesion force of toner to the surface of the transfer roll and a mechanical adhesion force of toner to the surface of an image carrier with which the transfer roll comes in press contact. At the time of cleaning the transfer roll, both the electrostatic adhesion force and the mechanical adhesion force of charged colorant to the surface of the belt-like image carrier are set larger than the electrostatic adhesion force and the mechanical adhesion force of charged colorant to the surface of the transfer roll.

摘要： The image forming apparatus is capable of preventing contamination of the rear surface of paper while minimizing the deterioration of the surface of the transfer roll. The image forming apparatus has an intermediate transfer belt for carrying a toner image visualized by a toner, a transfer roll pressed against the intermediate transfer belt, and a cleaning brush that is rotatable in contact with the transfer roll. This transfer roll acts to transfer the toner image carried on the belt to paper. The cleaning brush makes contact with the transfer roll to stir the toner adhering to the transfer roll.

摘要： An intermediate transfer type image forming apparatus is provided, in which a secondary transfer unit includes a secondary transfer member having a contact transfer member disposed in contact with at least the surface of an intermediate transfer medium, a bias applying unit for applying a transfer bias to transfer a toner image on the intermediate transfer medium through the secondary transfer member to a transfer medium and an inverse transfer bias having the opposite polarity to the transfer bias, and a bias switching unit for switching the applied bias of the bias applying unit so that the transfer bias is applied to an image transfer area on the intermediate transfer medium and the inverse transfer bias is applied to an image non-transfer area on the intermediate transfer medium. The apparatus is also equipped with a disturbing member for disturbing (scraping out, sweeping off or the like) toner adhering to the contact transfer member.

The visible image on the image carrying body is formed by charged participles. A collective transfer unit collectively transfers the visible image from the image carrying body to a transfer member. A transfer member judging unit judges whether a transfer member exists downstream of and in the vicinity of a transfer position of the collective transfer unit. A pre-stop processing unit for preventing, if the transfer member presence judging unit judges that a transfer monitor exists when the stopping unit stops the device, the transfer member from electrostatically sticking to the image carrying body.

摘要： There is described an image forming apparatus, wherein a visible image retained on an intermediate transfer belt is collectively transferred to recording material by means of a collective transfer device including a transfer roller and a back-up roller. The recording material that has passed through a transfer nipping region is guided by means of a recording material guide member. In such an image forming apparatus, the intermediate transfer belt is set at an angle of 50.degree. or less relative to the reference line passing through the exit of the transfer nipping region between the transfer roller and the back-up roller among normals orthogonal to a line passing through the center shafts of the transfer roller and the back-up roller, in the area downstream from the transfer nipping region, and the recording material guide member is provided downward at an angle of 5.degree. to 20.degree. relative to the reference line L.
