Abstract: The present invention provides an organic sulfur material comprising carbon, hydrogen, and sulfur as constituent elements, and having peaks in the vicinity of 480 cm−1, 1250 cm−1, 1440 cm−1, and 1900 cm−1 in a Raman spectrum detected by Raman spectroscopy. The peak in the vicinity of 1440 cm−1 is the most intense peak. This organic sulfur material, which is produced by using a liquid organic starting material, achieves high capacity. This organic sulfur material preferably does not have peaks in the vicinity of 846 cm−1 or 1066 cm−1.

Abstract: The main object is to provide a novel material with excellent charge and discharge characteristics, such as a high utilization rate of a positive electrode, a high capacity, and good cycle characteristic, in which the material is a compound containing as the major component lithium sulfide useful as a cathode active material for lithium secondary batteries. The invention provides a lithium sulfide-iron-carbon composite containing lithium, iron, sulfur and carbon as constituent elements, with lithium sulfide (Li2S), as the main phase, having a crystallite size of 50 nm or less as calculated from the half width of the diffraction peak based on the (111) plane of Li2S as determined by X-ray powder diffraction.

Abstract: A composite containing phosphorus, lithium, iron, sulfur, and carbon as constituent elements wherein lithium sulfide (Li2S) is present in an amount of 90 mol % or more, and wherein the crystallite size calculated from the half-width of a diffraction peak based on the (111) plane of Li2S as determined by X-ray powder diffraction measurement is 80 nm or less. The composite exhibits a high capacity (in particular, a high discharge capacity) useful as an electrode active material for a lithium-ion secondary battery (in particular, a cathode active material for a lithium-ion secondary battery), without the need for stepwise pre-cycling treatment.

Abstract: The present invention provides a composition for collecting a metal component from a metal component-containing material, the composition containing a compound containing at least one element selected from the group consisting of lanthanoid elements and elements in group 2 of the periodic table, and a compound containing at least one element selected from the group consisting of elements in groups 3, 4, 12, and 13 of the periodic table and transition metal elements in the 4th period of the periodic table. The present invention further provides a method for collecting a metal component using this composition. With the use of the composition of the present invention, a metal component can be easily and efficiently collected from a material containing a highly useful metal component such as noble or rare metal.
