摘要: A printer includes a web transport that is configured to transport a web of media along a transport path through the printer. Printheads in the printer are associated with web detectors that detect the presence or absence of the web opposite the printheads. A controller in the printer is operatively connected to the web detectors to alter operation of the printer with reference to the presence or absence of the web opposite the printheads.

摘要: A development subsystem is used to develop toner particles transported by semiconductive carrier particles. The development subsystem includes a developer housing for retaining a quantity of developer having semiconductive carrier particles and toner particles, a first magnetic roll having a stationary core with at least one magnet and a sleeve that rotates about the stationary core of the first magnetic roll, a second magnetic roll having a stationary core with at least one magnet and a sleeve that rotates about the stationary core of the second magnetic roll, a motor coupled to the first and the second magnetic rolls to drive the rotating sleeves of the first and the second magnetic rolls at different velocities relative to a velocity for a photoreceptor that rotates in proximity to the first and second magnetic rolls, the first and second magnetic rolls being driven in a direction that is with the direction of rotation of the photoreceptor so that the first and the second magnetic rolls carry semiconductive carrier particles and toner particles through a development zone formed by the first and the second magnetic rolls that is proximate to the photoreceptor.

摘要: The exemplary embodiments are directed to a control system and method of predicting how a machine will respond to occasional or periodic maintenance or service, and adjusting the machine accordingly to account for the change in machine behavior due to the maintenance or service action. More specifically, in a machine under closed-loop control subject to occasional maintenance or service, the maintenance or service results in transient in machine performance. To mitigate transients in machine performance due to maintenance or service, a prediction of the maintenance or service effect is fed forward the existing control system just prior to the occurrence of maintenance or service in order to compensate for the maintenance or service effect. This prediction is continually updated and refined using subsequent measurements of the effect of maintenance or service on machine performance.

摘要: An air suction manifold device for removal of fibers/debris from the photoreceptor surface, which may otherwise attach to the development electrode wires causing a print defect(s). The device incorporating a secondary channel perpendicular to the main channel, formed by the manifold flange(s) proximity to the photoreceptor surface. The secondary channel supplying a specific volume of air at a specific mean velocity in a direction perpendicular to the flow direction of the main channel. The volume and velocity of secondary channel air being of such magnitude that it crosses the main channel gap and impinges on the photoreceptor surface, causing a zone of maximum shear stress prior to completely mixing with the main channel air. The maximum sheer stress zone resulting in improved fiber/debris removal performance from the photoreceptor surface.

摘要: An electrophotographic printing machine of the type in which an electrostatic latent image recorded on a charge retentive surface is developed with toner particles to form a visible image thereof. A Hybrid Scavengeless Development (HSD) developer housing designed to control toner emission by employing two internal capture[JMC16], external exhaust manifolds. The location of the two manifolds are placed above and below the upper and lower donor rolls respectively. The manifolds are mounted in position to improve emissions control as well as reductions in the flow needed to accomplish the task. The upper and lower manifolds are able to control the loose toner emitted by the housing and lower powder cloud, they cannot collect the toner released by the upper powder cloud. To prevent toner accumulation in the middle regions of the wire module, a manifold is incorporated as an integral part of the wire module frame. Finally, toner released in the region between the two donor rolls near the magnetic roll surface may be controlled by inserting a baffle.

摘要: A method and apparatus for cleaning a ductwork network system is disclosed. An image forming system is provided having a ductwork network cleaning system for passing a fluid and particulate matter therethrough. There is included at least one fluid regulating element, which is coupled to the ductwork network and to a subsystem of the image forming system. The fluid regulating element regulates fluid flow through the ductwork network. Also provided is a fluid displacement device, which is in fluid communication with the ductwork network. The fluid displacement device displaces fluid within the ductwork network. Most commonly, the fluid contained within the image forming system is air.
