    摘要： A method and apparatus are provided for transmitting packet data over an uplink channel in a mobile communication system in which retransmission of a packet is possible using a hybrid automatic retransmission request (HARQ) technique. A base station receives a packet data unit (PDU) from a terminal and determines whether the base station can calculate a retransmission number (RSN) indicating the number of retransmissions for the PDU. If the base station cannot calculate the RSN for the PDU, the base station sets the RSN to a special value indicating that the number of retransmissions for the PDU is unknown, and transmits the set RSN to a serving radio network controller (SRNC) along with the PDU.

    摘要： A method and apparatus for reporting a Buffer Status (BS) using Node B-estimated BS information in a mobile communication system are provided. A Node B-estimated BS and an actual BS of a User Equipment (UE) are monitored. A value of the Node B-estimated BS is compared with a first threshold value. If the Node B-estimated BS value is less than the first threshold, a determination is made as to whether the value of the actual BS is more than a second threshold. If the actual BS value is more than the second threshold, a Buffer Status Report (BSR) indicative of the actual BS is transmitted to a Node B.

    摘要： A method and apparatus are provided for reducing excessive retransmission delays which may occur due to the loss of the last packet of a transmission buffer in a Radio Link Control (RLC) layer of a mobile communication system. The method includes receiving a Service Data Unit (SDU) from a higher layer, dividing the SDU into a plurality of Packet Data Units (PDUs), and storing the PDUs in a buffer, setting a poll bit for a last PDU from among the PDUs stored in the buffer, the poll bit requesting a status report, and repeatedly transmitting the last PDU having the setup poll bit at least twice from a sender to a receiver, regardless of whether there is a request for retransmission of the last PDU.

The method includes the steps of receiving a control message at a terminal from a radio network controller (RNC); if the control message indicates control of a downlink rate, determining a downlink rate according to the control message; setting a Change Mode Request (CMR) field of an uplink Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) packet according to the downlink rate, and transmitting the uplink VoIP packet from the terminal to the RNC; if the received control message indicates control of an uplink rate, determining an uplink rate according to the control message; and generating an uplink VoIP packet including uplink voice data generated according to the determined uplink rate and frame type (FT) information indicating the determined uplink rate, and transmitting the uplink VoIP packet from the terminal to the RNC.
