There is described an electrical discharge machining medium which is a mixture of water and (a) a water-soluble compound of formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is an alkyl group containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms; R.sub.2 is a hydrogen atom, a methyl group or an ethyl group; n is an integer of 4 to 100, inclusive; or (b) a compound which contains at least one oxygen-containing hydrocarbon chain of the general formula R--O--A--H).sub.m wherein A is a recurring oxyethylene group or a mixture of oxyethylene and one or both of oxypropylene and oxybutylene groups which do not interfere with the solubility of the compound; R is a hydrocarbon chain containing 3 to 8 carbon atoms; O is an oxygen atom forming an ether bond with a carbon atom constituting R; and m is an integer of 3 to 6, inclusive, which compound contains at least two groups of the formula --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O--, has an average molecular weight not exceeding 5000, and is and remains liquid during machining, or a mixture of said compounds (a) and (b). This medium contributes to a decreased electrode consumption rate and an increased machining speed.

Positioning holes are formed in the tab portion and positioning pins are provided on a first wall member. A butt type contact terminal comprises a terminal body 3, a sliding contact member 4 slidably engaged around an outer periphery of the terminal body, and a resilient member 5 resiliently provided between the terminal body 3 and the sliding contact member 4, either one of the terminal body and the sliding contact member being provided with a plurality of elastic contact pieces 10 arranged in a circumferential direction by way of axial slits 9, and the terminal body and the sliding contact member being respectively provided with projections 11, 19 for engagement and contact therebetween. The terminal body 3 includes an elastic contact portion 6 in a cylindrical shape, a flange portion 8, and an electric wire connecting portion 7. The sliding contact member 4 includes a peripheral wall 15 in a cylindrical shape having the projections 19, a covering wall 16, and a contact portion 17. An outer diameter of the elastic contact portion 6 is larger than an inner diameter of the peripheral wall 15, whereby the elastic contact portion is elastically brought into contact with the peripheral wall. A coil spring 5 is resiliently provided between the peripheral wall 15 of the sliding contact member 4 and the flange portion 8 of the terminal body 3. The terminals 1 are inserted into a connector housing 23, the flange portions 8 are locked by locking lances 28, and waterproof packings are tightly fitted to the contact portions 17 and to the electric wires 2.

A female connector (A) includes a shell for receiving the male connector; the male and female connectors having abutting faces (36 and 4) abutting on each other by magnetic force when the inner connector (20) and the female connector (A) are engaged with each other, at least one of the abutting faces being made of magnet (35). The male and female connectors can constitute a provisional locking structure before substantial magnetic adsorption force due to proximity of the male and female connectors. The male and female connectors are coupled to each other to connect terminals mounted in the male and female connectors to each other. Even if a strong magnet is used to couple relatively large connectors with each other, they can be separated by small force.

A discharge display device wherein a gas-tight space defined by two plates and a sealing member is divided into a plurality of discharge chambers by partition walls formed on one of the two plates, and height adjusting layers are interposed between end faces of the respective partition walls and an inner surface of the other plate. Each height adjusting layer is formed from a material which has a softening point not lower than that of the sealing member and which is softened at a sealing temperature at which the two plates are bonded together by the sealing member. The height adjusting layers, which assure gas-tight separation of the discharge chambers, may replace upper end portions of the partition walls. Alternatively, the partition walls may be entirely formed from the above-indicated material. Also disclosed is a process of fabricating such a discharge display device, wherein height adjusting layers are softened at the sealing temperature when the two plates are bonded together with the melting of the sealing member.
