摘要： An improved head adjusting disk is disclosed which is adapted to be used for adjustment of the position of a head in a mechanism such as a floppy disk drive mechanism. On the improved head adjusting disk, two head position adjusting record tracks for adjustment of the position of a head are formed such that an outer circumferential edge of one of the record tracks and an inner circumferential edge of the other record track extend along a same circumference and that one of the two record tracks is formed to extend along a portion of one n'th (where n>1 and n=2) of the circumference while the other record track is formed to extend along the remaining (1-1/n) portion of the circumference, whereby individual signals reproduced from the two head position adjusting record tracks can be distinguished from each other by difference in duration thereof.

摘要： A magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus wherein mechanical deteriorations and induced noises can be eliminated and detection signals different in recording density can be read by a reading circuit without a misoperation. The apparatus comprises a filter circuit including a switching element for changing over between different impedance elements in order to allow reproduction from a magnetic medium which is recorded in a recording period which is different from recording and reproducing characteristics of said magnetic head. Preferably, the switching element is a field effect transistor.

摘要： An optical disk unit wherein a disk rotating speed is automatically adjusted for reading optical information from various optical disk types, each optical disk type requiring a different rotating speed. The optical disk unit moves an optical head to a track corresponding to a program start position, then moves the optical head to a second track which is a predetermined distance from the first track. The program time information is then read from the second track and compared with preset values. When the program time information is less than a first preset value, the optical disk unit rotates the disk at a slow speed (for example, such that a linear speed of the optical head is 1.2 m/s relative to the disk). When the program time information is less than the first preset value and greater than a second preset value, the optical disk unit rotates the disk at an intermediate speed (for example, 1.3 m/s). Finally, when the program time information is greater than the second preset value, the optical disk unit rotates the disk at a fast speed (for example, 1.4 m/s).

摘要： A magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus which can write magnetic information in different recording periods so that information stored in a magnetic medium can be modified or corrected therewith in whichever recording period it is recorded. The apparatus comprises a bias change-over circuit for changing over the voltage to be applied to a magnetic head to effect recording in a recording period which is different from recording and reproducing characteristics of the magnetic head, and a writing circuit for supplying a writing current to the magnetic head in response to a voltage from the bias change-over circuit. Thus, by changing over the writing current, a recording period for recording on the magnetic medium can be modified.
