Abstract: A surgical machine comprises multiple machine connectors disposed on its face, and a device detection mechanism located close to the machine connectors. The device detection mechanism is configured to read identification data from device information component when positioned within a predetermined range. A control circuit is configured to: identify, based on a device information read from a device information component brought within the range of the device detection mechanism, a matching machine connector from multiple machine connectors, control a light source corresponding to the matching machine connector to illuminate the corresponding illumination ring with the first color, in response to this identifying, and, control the light source corresponding to each of one or more remaining ones of the machine connectors to provide no illumination or to illuminate the corresponding illumination ring with a second color.

Abstract: Provided herein are cannula devices that are self-illuminating to facilitate visualization of the cannula devices during a surgical procedure. The self-illuminating feature may be provided by phosphors incorporated into the cannula device, for example in the hub or sealing element of the cannula device. The cannula device may emit light of a specific color selected to correspond to a size of the cannula device.

Abstract: A system and method for medical spatial orientation is disclosed including a robotic arm; an image sensor coupled to the robotic arm; a visualization headset; and a computing subsystem coupled to the robotic arm and the visualization headset. The computing subsystem includes a processor; a non-transitory machine-readable medium communicatively coupled to the processor; and instructions stored on the non-transitory machine-readable medium that, when loaded and executed by the processor, cause the processor to create a first image of a first portion of a surgical field at an image sensor coupled to the robotic arm; detect a movement of a visualization headset indicating a second portion of the surgical field; determine a movement of the robotic arm to position the image sensor at the second portion of the surgical field; move, based on the determination, the robotic arm; and create a second image of the second portion of the surgical field.

Abstract: A vitrectomy probe includes a hand-graspable body and an outer tube extending from the hand-graspable body. The outer tube includes a closed distal end and a first port sized to receive tissue. The vitrectomy probe also includes an inner tube within the outer tube. In various embodiments, the outer tube and/or the inner tube are curved. In some embodiments, the curvature of the outer tube is adjustable.
