Abstract: An example system for demonstrating at least one aspect of an orthopedic surgical procedure includes a first device and a second device. In this example, the first device is configured to display a presentation to a first user, wherein the presentation includes one or more virtual elements and wherein the one or more virtual elements comprise a three-dimensional (3D) virtual representation of one or more anatomical features associated with the orthopedic surgical procedure. In this example, the second device is configured to display the presentation to a second user. In this example, the one or more virtual elements demonstrate at least one aspect of the orthopedic surgical procedure and wherein control of at least some of the one or more virtual elements are assignable from the first device to the second device.

In this example, the second device is further configured to display content that informs the second user on one or more previously-executed steps of the orthopedic surgical procedure.

Abstract: An example method includes displaying, via a visualization device and overlaid on a portion of an anatomy of a patient viewable via the visualization device, a virtual model of the portion of the anatomy obtained from a virtual surgical plan for an orthopedic joint repair surgical procedure to attach a prosthetic to the anatomy; and displaying, via the visualization device and overlaid on the portion of the anatomy, a virtual guide that guides at least one of preparation of the anatomy for attachment of the prosthetic or attachment of the prosthetic to the anatomy.

Abstract: Surgical systems and methods for use with a hand-guided tool. The surgical system includes a robotic manipulator that holds a tool guide. The tool guide receives and guides the surgical tool to enable the tool to manipulate a bone. The robotic manipulator autonomously aligns the tool guide to a target orientation relative to the bone. The tool guide is moved to an initial location adjacent to the bone while remaining aligned with the target orientation. The initial location is suitable for the tool to perform an initial manipulation of the bone. The robotic manipulator facilitates withdrawal of the tool guide away from the initial location to a spaced location after the initial manipulation of the bone while maintaining alignment of the tool guide with the target orientation at the spaced guide location. The spaced guide location is suitable for the tool to perform a further manipulation of the bone.

Abstract: A system comprises an image capture device, an augmented reality (AR) display to display, and a processing device. The processing deice receives image data of a dental arch from the image capture device and processes the image data using a plurality of detection rules, where each detection rule detects one or more dental conditions. The processing device determines a dental condition for the dental arch based on the processing, determines a position of an area of interest on the dental arch, wherein the area of interest is associated with the dental condition, generates a visual overlay comprising an indication of the dental condition at the position of the area of interest, and outputs the visual overlay to the AR display, wherein the visual overlay is superimposed over a view of the dental arch on the AR display at the position of the area of interest.

Abstract: An apparatus for performing dental surgery includes a central processing unit that controls automated operation of the apparatus and a display that renders an image of a target tooth requiring surgical intervention. The image of a target tooth being created from an image file received from the central processing unit. An input device receives surgical instructions from a user for providing the surgical intervention. The instructions are provided to the central processing unit for process. The surgical instructions include visual indications on the image of a target tooth that is to be treated. A robotic arm that includes an end effector is in communication with the central processing unit. The central processing unit controls the robotic arm to remove a region of the target tooth. The system also simultaneously mills the final tooth restoration in a separate milling chamber.

Abstract: User interface devices for manipulating a robotic surgical tool in a surgical robotic system are described. A user interface device can include a device body containing a tracking sensor to generate a spatial state signal in response to movement of the device body. The spatial state signal can be used to control a spatial motion of a surgical robotic system actuator. Several grip linkages can be pivotally coupled to the device body. A grip linkage displacement sensor may monitor movement of the grip linkages relative to the device body, and generate a grip signal in response to the movement. The grip signal can be used to control a grip motion of a robotic surgical tool mounted on the surgical robotic system actuator. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a positioning and navigation system for surgery, comprising a wearable device and a surgical instrument connected to the wearable device. The wearable device comprises at least one processor, at least one millimeter-wave positioning module connected to the at least one processor, and a first display module connected to the at least one processor. The invention may detect the image information of the surgical site of the patient through at least one millimeter-wave positioning module, and display the image information on the first display module. Thereby, the invention assists the surgical instrument or doctor who wears the wearable device positioning and navigation during the surgery procedure.

Abstract: Systems, methods and devices are disclosed for use in electronic guidance systems for surgical navigation. A sensor is provided with an optical sensor and an inclinometer (e.g. accelerometer or other inclination measuring sensor) and communicates measurements of patient inclination to an inter-operative computing unit. A registration device is useful to construct a registration coordinate frame. The direction of gravity may be used to construct the registration coordinate frame such as determined from inclination measurements.
