摘要: Data throughput rate in a power line communications (“PLC”) system is controlled by generating PLC carrier signals in accordance with a PLC signal frame structure containing payload symbols where the payload symbol length is selected based on at least one of a PLC system channel quality and node configuration data. The selected payload symbol length determines the processing operations that a source PLC transceiver performs for generating PLC signals or that a destination PLC transceiver performs for extracting information content from received PLC signals. The payload symbol lengths can be selected to maximize the data throughput rate while maintaining compatibility with prior art PLC system protocols and standards that require a PLC signal frame structure and its payload portion to have fixed, predetermined lengths.

摘要: Power line communication (“PLC”) signals are transmitted between a head-end PLC transceiver coupled to multiple remote PLC transceivers over a electric power and communications distribution network in accordance with a timing controlled PLC data frame which determines how much bandwidth is allocated to downstream transmission from the head-end to the remotes and to upstream transmissions from one or more of the remotes to the head-end. The configuration of the timing controlled data frame can be dynamically modified to achieve higher bandwidth for the downstream traffic and to satisfy changing bandwidth needs of each remote.

摘要: Data throughput rate in a power line communications (“PLC”) system is controlled by generating PLC carrier signals in accordance with a PLC signal frame structure containing payload symbols where orders of modulation are selected for the individual PLC carriers based on evaluation of at least one of a PLC system channel quality and node configuration data. The selected orders of modulation determine the processing operations that a source PLC transceiver performs for generating PLC signals or that a destination PLC transceiver performs for extracting information content from received PLC signals. 摘要: When an audio distribution system is installed, it is normally required to wiring between the audio source or sources, and all of the speakers that are installed throughout a building or structure. The installation on this wiring is normally time consuming and difficult, and can be a large cost component of the system installation. Therefore, there is a need for an audio distribution system that makes use of, and takes a benefit from, already installed electrical power wiring, or allows a lesser number of wires to be run where new installations are necessary, through the means of upgrading the system to provide uninterrupted power to the powered speakers while maintaining the ability to control lighting fixtures powered through the same wiring infrastructure.

摘要: Management and control of distribution of multiple, simultaneously occurring audio and video data content streams in a communications network, as well as of the bandwidth used for distributing the content of the network, is performed at a master content server module to provide that content source and content rendering client devices operate in unison. Distribution of content is managed to economize use of network bandwidth and maximize network performance to provide that enhanced features associated with content distribution can be readily made available with the content at the client devices.

摘要: An integrated network adapter is operable to establish a network interface with a plurality of media types, including at least a power line network and a telephone line network, based on pre-configuration, upon initialization and dynamically during operation. The adapter further is operable to establish network interfaces simultaneously or separately with a plurality of media types and provide that a communications event can occur simultaneously or separately over a plurality of media types.

摘要: The trend toward moving to digital content is progressing and expanding every day. With that trend comes the availability of a multitude of content from content sources through, for example, the public Internet. A method and system for content distribution are provided that allow content providers to customize the content that is (i) distributed to content rendering devices and/or (ii) suggested for download or purchase by users of the rendering devices, based on user responses and interactions resultant from the content. This interaction allows for the most likely and desired content to be available to the user for play or purchase.
