摘要： A mechanical pencil has an axially elongated hollow pencil body in which is slidable a tubular seat member. A lead-protecting sleeve is axially displaceable in the pencil body between a front position and a rear position and is urged into the front position with a relatively strong spring force. At least two jaws are axially displaceable on the seat and are moved radially closer as they move backwardly from the tip so as to grip a lead that projects backwardly from the lead-projecting sleeve. A relatively weak spring urges these jaws backwardly in the seat. An O-ring is provided in the lead-projecting sleeve so that each time the pencil tip is lifted from the writing surface the lead is automatically pulled forwardly by the strong spring force through the jaws. Similarly forward displacement of the seat in which the jaws rest allows for manual advance of a lead gripped by the jaws and passing through the lead-protecting sleeve.

A closure cap (38) serves to close and seal off the tip portion (14). In the central section piston rod (20) is provided with flange (26). A sealing element (30) enables the piston rod (20) to be sealed off along its circumference.

摘要： A writing instrument with automatic advancement and feed of successive leads has a housing having a tip part, a lead protecting pipe having an axis and movable in an axial direction, a lead container spaced from the lead protecting pipe in the axial direction, a gripping sleeve extending between the lead container and the lead protecting pipe, a lead clamping member having a plurality of clamping arms and movable between open and closed positions in the axial direction, wherein the clamping arms of said lead clamping member are arranged to abut against the gripping sleeve under a spring action and having a clamping opening with a receiving portion, and the lead clamping member has a shaft connected with said clamping arms with a region adjacent to the latter, and a tilting member provided in the region of the shaft of the clamping member and arranged so that during movement of the lead protecting pipe to the tip part of the housing the tilting member displaces on the shaft of the clamping member, and during movement of the lead protecting pipe in an opposite direction out of the tip part of the housing the tilting member becomes firmly connected with the shaft of the clamping member.

摘要： A mechanical pencil having an exchangeable lead storing container has a feeding mechanism provided at one end with a coupling pin which snugly fits a coupling recess formed in the storing cartridge. The feeding opening connecting the interior of the cartridge with the central passage in the coupling pin has normally a smaller diameter than that of leads stored in the cartridge, and only upon completing the coupling the pin enlarges the feeding opening to such an extent that the stored leads can freely pass one after the other into the feeding mechanism of the pencil.

摘要： A mechanical pencil of the collet action type is provided with a lead collet being formed from a pair of identically configured mating shells which are maintained in fixed relation with respect to one another by means of an annulus cooperating with a conical flared portion formed at one end thereof and by means of a cap at the opposite end, all parts of the pencil being maintained in assembled relation by a spring. The parts are assembled by sliding first one and then the other of the two collet shells through an annulus into mating relation with one another and thereafter fitting the end cap over the end of the mating shells.
