摘要： A securement system secures an endotracheal tube or other medical article in position upon a patient and arrests movement of the endotracheal tube. The securement system includes a retainer having a posterior facing surface, and a channel to secure the endotracheal tube. The securement system can include a member configured for placement in the patient's oral cavity and in fluid communication with an anterior side of the retainer, and a mouth securement member configured to substantially prevent movement of the retainer. Advantageously, the securement system can maintain an endotracheal tube in position upon a patient and allow a liquid to be infused into the patient's oral cavity.

The tool may having a cutting tip for drilling a hole into bone, and may have a shaft and sleeve for accepting the cannulated fastener and for driving it into the drilled hole. The tool may be adjustable to allow fasteners of different lengths to be accepted, while ensuring that a portion of the cutting tip protrudes beyond the end of the fastener. A multiple-screw tool is also disclosed that allows more than one cannulated fastener at a time to be stacked on the tool, thus speeding the installation process.

A groove (30) upon the base (22) is arranged to receive a branching site (112) of a catheter where the lumens merge distal to the insertion site. One or more posts (74, 78) also protrude from the base (22) to the cover (24) at a position which will be disposed between the two distal branches of the catheter (18). The cover (24) closes over the base (22). securing the branching site (112) between the groove and the posts. The contact between the retainer and catheter thereby inhibits inadvertent motion of the catheter upon the patient. A latch mechanism (80) is disposed upon the retainer to maintain the cover in a closed position over the branching site of the catheter on the base.

摘要： A catheter securement device 100 holds a medical article such as a catheter in position upon the body of a patient and at least inhibits longitudinal movement of the medical article. The securement device 100 includes a retainer 102 and a clamp 104. The retainer 102 and clamp 104 include interengaging structure. The interengaging structure may be a ratchet mechanism by which a medical provider tightens the clamp against the retainer. The ratchet mechanism allows a single securement system to be used with medical articles that have different longitudinal lengths as well as medical articles that have distally located contact surfaces. The retainer forms a channel 106 into which at least a portion of the medical article is inserted. Each of the retainer 102 and the clamp 104 include at least one abutment surface that can abut against a contact point or surface on the medical article. The abutments inhibit motion of the medical article in proximal and distal directions through the channel when the clamp 104 is tightened against the retainer 102. The securement system may be designed for single or multi-use.
