Abstract: A character recognition device for use with printed characters and designed to indicate the character at a plurality of interrogation positions. A storage device is included which will store information relating to a plurality of position digitized signals of a single vertical line element. The information of the vertical line element is modified within the storage device so as to provide an indication of the center of the vertical line element in accordance with one of the interrogation positions.
