摘要: Disclosed herein in is a radiative cooling formulation including a solvent for providing a viscosity of a radiative cooling material for application onto a surface to be passively cooled. The radiative cooling formulation includes a binder for the radiative cooling material's integrity and bonding to the surface to be passively cooled. The radiative cooling formulation includes a polymer, which, in combination with the binder, provides one or more properties in the radiative cooling material, including a reflectance of or greater than 55% in a wavelengths range of 0.3 to 2.5 microns and a first thermal emissivity peak value greater than 0.85 at a first wavelength in a range of 8 to 13 microns (μm). For example, the polymer is a latex material including a styrene based copolymer.

摘要: Microorganisms present within a plurality of microorganism clusters immobilized in a porous support material may collectively define a supported bio-catalyst. When the microorganisms are effective to convert methane into one or more oxidized carbon compounds (e.g., methanotrophic bacteria), the supported bio-catalysts may be utilized to remove methane from methane-containing gas streams, such as those obtained from mining ventilation. Methods for processing a methane-containing gas stream may comprise interacting the gas stream with the supported bio-catalyst in substantial absence of a liquid phase, and obtaining a methane-depleted gas stream downstream from the supported bio-catalyst. Systems for processing a methane-containing gas stream may comprise the supported bio-catalysts housed in one or more vessels fluidly coupled to a source of methane-containing gas stream. A gas concentration in the methane-containing gas stream and/or the methane-depleted gas stream may be used to determine a current state or anticipated remaining lifetime of the supported bio-catalyst.

摘要: A porous material including polymerized units containing pores is provided, which can be employed for desalination applications. Each of the units includes at least one aromatic amino group and at least one hydroxyl group. The aromatic amino groups and the hydroxyl groups are arranged on surfaces of the pores in geometries configured to capture sodium chloride from an aqueous environment. The porous material can be provided as particles or a sponge. The porous material can be manufactured from a solution including monomers, a porogen, and an initiator by a polymerization process. The porous material can be reused after a desalination process by treatment with deionized water. A steam generation apparatus can be employed to facilitate removal of sodium chloride from the porous material in which sodium chloride is captured.
