Abstract: Provided is a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery including a nonaqueous electrolyte and an electrode assembly including a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator disposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. The electrode assembly further includes a layer containing a metal oxide powder between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. The positive electrode contains a phosphate ester compound represented by Formula (1); where X and Y each independently represent a metal atom, a hydrogen atom, or an organic group; at least one of X and Y represents a metal atom; X and Y are coincident when the metal atom is divalent; and n represents an integer of 2 or more and 10 or less.

Abstract: This separator is provided with a resin substrate, a first heat-resistant layer that covers the entirety of one surface of the resin substrate, a second heat-resistant layer that covers a portion of the other surface of the resin substrate, and an uncovered region that is in the other surface of the resin substrate and that is not covered by the second heat-resistant layer, wherein the first heat-resistant layer and the second heat-resistant layer each include inorganic particles and a binder. In each of the heat-resistant layers, the contained amount of the inorganic particles is 50-90 mass %, the contained amount of the binder is 10-50 mass %, and the uncovered region is connected to the end portion of the resin substrate.

Abstract: A negative electrode active material layer containing at least one selected from silicon and a silicon compound as a negative electrode active material is formed, and an amount of lithium exceeding an amount corresponding to a theoretical capacity of the negative electrode active material layer is brought into contact with the negative electrode active material layer so as to prepare a negative electrode. A positive electrode containing a lithium-absorption material capable of irreversibly absorbing lithium is prepared. The positive electrode, the negative electrode, a separator, and a nonaqueous electrolyte are enclosed inside an outer enclosure. A chemical conversion treatment of the negative electrode active material is performed with the lithium brought into contact with the negative electrode active material layer.
