Abstract: A color display device comprises an array of a plurality of sub-pixels including a red sub-pixel, a blue sub-pixel, a first green sub-pixel and a second green sub-pixel. The first green sub-pixel and the second green sub-pixel are smaller than that of the red sub-pixel or the blue sub-pixel. The two adjacent first green sub-pixels are arranged in a first direction, the two adjacent second green sub-pixels are arranged in the first direction. The blue sub-pixel is directly adjacent to the red sub-pixel in a second direction; the blue sub-pixel is directly adjacent to the two first green sub-pixels and the two second green sub-pixels.

Abstract: In a color display device, when using white (W) sub-pixels in addition to subpixels of red (R) and green (G) plus blue (B) without increasing a wiring line number, the per-color pixel number in a unit area decreases so that the image resolution is deteriorated. The area and number of subpixels are adjusted in accordance with the visual sensitivity or luminosity required. Practically, the area of red (R) and blue (B) subpixels which are relatively low in luminosity is set to be about two times greater than the area of green (G) and white (W) subpixels that are relatively high in luminosity while letting the number of green (G) and white (W) subpixels be twice the number of red (R) and blue (B) subpixels. A larger subpixel is configured from a plurality of unit subpixels. A smaller subpixel is formed of a one unit subpixel.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes a TFT substrate with gate lines and drain lines, and pixel electrodes each formed in a region surrounded by the gate lines and drain lines. Protrusions are formed below the gate lines, each of the protrusions having an upper surface and at least one inclined side surface. A gate insulating film is formed over the gate lines, a semiconductor layer formed on the gate insulating film, and drain electrodes formed and source electrodes formed over the semiconductor layer. Channel portions are defined by the space between the drain electrodes and the source electrodes, each of the channel portions being formed covering the upper surface and at least one of the at least one inclined side surface of one of the protrusions, the pixel and source electrode being in contact with each other on at least one inclined side surface of the protrusion.

A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal display panel, a backlight, and a liquid crystal light valve; the light valve includes a plurality of first electrodes extending in a first direction and formed on the first substrate; a first insulating film is formed on the first electrode; a plurality of second electrodes are formed in a matrix at predetermined intervals on the first insulating film; a second insulating film is formed on the second electrodes; a plurality of third electrodes extending in a second direction are formed on the second insulating film; the liquid crystal is sandwiched between the third electrodes and the second substrate; the predetermined interval between the second electrodes is 2 to 10 μm.
